Dr Cohen granted me 4.5 minutes of his valuable time to inform me my wife has stage 4 metastatic cancer of the pancreas and that it has spread to her liver and gallbladder. He offered no support connections or information on coping with a death sentence like this. The next day he granted me 2.5 minutes and advised me to "let me lead as I have a lot more information than you do" after I began by speaking about my wife's emotional state. He walked away and dictated instructions for the RN to discharge my wife to home, with an appointment for radiation. While his assessment may me factually correct (to be confirmed) his delivery and communication leaves a great deal to be desired. I sincerely hope that Dr Cohen doesn't find himself at the receiving end of a similar conversation about someone he loves and cares about.
