Dr. Dorene Dempster, MD

Dr Dempster is rude, insulting, defensive and forgetful. Having failed to consult a patient’s chart prior to a surgical procedure, she only performed part of the procedure previously agreed to, then blatantly lied about forgetting, claiming it was somehow the “patient’s fault.” Rather than a referral to the sole other ob gyn in the practice, because of “professional courtesy,” that patient disabled by stroke is now REFUSED access to the sole ob gyn practice in the county and is instead “referred” to establish with a practice over an hour away. After all the medical trauma this family has suffered since that stroke, this lack of care and interest in the patient’s wellbeing is unconscionable. Don’t waste time bringing provider negligence to Admin’s attention, they circle the wagons and deny access. Dempster is insulting, defensive, and dismissive. She interrupts and talks over you. Find another practice.

Dr. Dempster was efficient with our time, answered questions thoroughly, and offered a couple of actions for me to choose from, then gave me the explanation I needed to make decision on a treatment. She was respectful and informative.

The city of Sturgeon Bay is very small and gossipy and this hospital is no exception. I'm not certain what to call this place because over the decades we have lived here it seems to change names quite a bit. So whether you call this place Door Ministry Medical Center or now Door County Medical Center, I'll tell you about my experience here. I've lived in this city my entire life, working and volunteering since high school and I can tell you many graduates of Sturgeon Bay don't stay and the others that do have bullied people out. I went to Dempster after being told at the Ymca not to because she was terrible, but I chose not to listen because in this city you don't know who is being truthful and who isn't. I'll tell you I found her to be hostile, cruel, and demeaning. All I needed was a physical after a recent miscarriage and she could not handle her behavior. I was also suffering from 2 treatable medical conditions that she didn't want to discuss- because she simply wanted to be mean.

Id leave a zero if I could but to be criticized for getting the the closed hospital to make sure my daughter was alive after losing a baby last year was mind blowing, she made me feel as tho I have no where to go for help. She could care less about any patient. Drive 5 mins to make sure my baby was still alive of drive an hr to my OB could have been the difference between life or death for my baby.

I had a great experience with Dr. Dempster. She listened to my concerns, explained things in terms I understood, and gave me lots of options for treatment.

My experience with Dr. Dempster was the best OB/GYN of my life. (Age 42 with 4 kids) She listened and got to resolving my pain very quickly. She accepted my input into how to resolve the issues and performed a comprehensive surgery. My few appointments with her so far have improved my quality of life.
