Excellent care
Dr Gross has done two breast biopsies in me and exhibited the most excellent care. My priorities are competence and compassion; he has both. I am a healthcare professional and amVery thorough in choosing my physicians. I know good care when I see it. He listens to my concerns, and even my suggestions. I did not want to go through these experiences, but am so glad God created Dr. Gross before he was born to do what he does. Also, the questions I was asked after this review only gave me a yes or no option, I think some should have had “I don’t know.'

Careless and Sloppy
I had two lipomas that needed to be removed. Dr Gross went in close to the largest one I needed removed (it was 1.5' long) but he missed it. That incision site was tore up and extremely bruised from him digging around. He claims he found a small one in that area, but missed the big one he had said he could easily feel when I had my consultation. I ended up going to a different Dr to get it removed in office for literally 5% of what Dr Gross charged. Dr Gross insisted it had to be an out patient surgery which it clearly did not when I went to the other doctor. The scars from Dr Gross are NASTY and SLOPPY. Dr Gross took NO responsibility for missing the big lipoma and went as far as to say I was lying on my back during surgery so he couldn't really get to it. In the office visit prior to surgery he said he could easily get it no problem. They tried to charge me for office visits after surgery when I went in about the missed lipoma and wanted to charge me a FULL PRICED 2nd surgery.

Bad experience!
This doctor was only interested in doing surgery, even though it was contraindicated with multiple co morbidities . His demeanor was arrogant, he acted like I had no say in my own healthcare! I would never return to him, and obviously would never send anyone to see him! When I disagreed with his desire to do surgery, he said “you and I are not going to agree on this”. I let him know that was the only thing he was right about!

Saved my life!
Dr. Gross saved my life by performing an emergency surgery for an intestinal obstruction. He explained the procedure, emphasized the risk and made sure I understood the potential complications. He is very approachable and matter of fact. I am in the medical field and the best description I can provide is DR. GROSS KNOWS HIS STUFF! WOULD RECOMMEND TO ANYONE!!

Emergency. Removal of section of small intestine due to scar tissue. I was completely satisfied with everything about the care I received from Dr. Gross. He was a highly competent and caring surgeon. I have had no complications from the procedure after almost a year.

Dr. Gross is the most approachable physician I have ever encountered. As a medical person, I encounter many physicians. He took time explaining every stage of the gallbladder surgery. His office worked me in the day after I called for a consult appointment and surgery was scheduled for the day after that. He has exceptional surgical skills and even discovered another problem, now treating that as well. This is my choice for general surgeons in the Tuscaloosa area.

Dr. Gross stayed on top of my mother's care the whole time she was in the hospital - checking on her multiple times a day. He was caring and compassionate. He made decisions promptly and acted immediately in order to address a life threatening problem. He is one of the best physicians I have encountered.
