Dr. Donald Brown Jr, MD

DO NOT COME HERE. I went there for fertility questions. While I was there Dr. Brown suggested a Pap smear since it had been a while then wait to come back 6 more months after trying. My Blue Cross Blue Shield covers Pap smears so I agreed as they are preventative care. 4 months later I got a bill for FOUR HUNDRED DOLLARS for the Pap smear. I called the front office and insurance and apparently Dr. Brown coded it as an “Emergency Diagnostic Test.” I asked them to change it they said they would. 2 months later turns out they never changed it. I spoke with the manager and she said “Oh are you having trouble with your insurance again?” I asked them again to change it even had my insurance do a call with me and told them THE EXACT CODES to file a Pap smear under so that my insurance would cover it. Once again they refused saying “that’s how we always code them.” The fact that they always code them this way makes me so sad and scared for the women who go here on a daily for preventative care

I have never been made to feel so invisible and unimportant. My concerns were dismissed. When I asked if I should come back in a year I was asked by the doctor, “why?” Totally dismissed is how I felt!

I would recommend him only if no one else was available. Felt disliked and even resented by him at the monthly appointments, and after conversing with other women I see that I wasn't the only one who felt that way. Dr. Brown practiced his profession okay but with the same attitude that a tired husband would have while fixing a toilet.

My visit was the best Dr's Office visit I've ever had. I felt received as a person, not just a patient. The person whom I scheduled with on the phone was so personable and pleasant and the other gal working the front desk was just as nice. Dr. Brown and his Nurse had a very respectful, caring and non-overbearing way about them. I felt very relaxed and safe in this environment, which is the most important factor when one is concerned with a health issue and all it's possible implications.
