Questinalble billing practices
They first cleared me fully, and after more than a month the Dr wanted to examine something as she wasnt clear from the first set of images she called me back(mind you it was posed like something was unclear and they wanted a better look) - for me it was a follow up to my preventative visit, but they decided to bill me a whopping over than a 1000 dollars for a followup they made me come to which even my PCP or technician wasnt sure why or what the Dr saw that needed for a follow up. I have called them several times to get clarification and understand this huge bill but no one follows up with a call back but they continue to threaten collection on the bill.

5 year old bill I show as paid is being questioned
I visited in 2017, was eventually billed in 2018 after insurance made a partial payment. We have a bill that we marked paid. Received a letter dated 7/11/22 saying I still owed the remaining bill. Called to talk to the billing department. Got VM, and left a message. 2 days later I got an email sent to my wife's email detailing my procedure and the bill and answering questions (HIPPA violation) but no identification as to who emailing. They only would provide "BC" as contact after I asked for a person, they refused to talk to me stating they were short staffed and it's not local practice to speak with patience and research anything or prove anything on the bill. I questioned the Ultrasound as I don't recall (after 5 years that part of the procedure) they will be happy to send me diag images if I Pay $5 to have a DVD made. Wow - most impersonal and rude people. I basically told them to call me as I don't want to pay a bill twice. Never will I recommend or go to this facility.

You cannot trust Dr. Dipa Patel. She performed an ultrasound on my breast and found that my breast was normal. After what she recommended a preventive breast exam that was unnecessary due to negative ultrasound. Her billing department charged me for diagnostic mammogram. They sent my insurance a bill of $8,756.00. When I came to the facility to understand the bill and speak with Dr. Patel, they refused, I asked to speak with a supervisor. They asked me to wait in the wait room. They didn’t ask me to leave, they called the police. I was patiently waiting on a chair when the police showed up. I have not found a way to speak with their supervisor and my billing concerns are still not addressed. I filed a complaint with state departments for investigation.

No Covid protocols. None. Masks, yes, but lobby is not ventilated, patients sit literally on top of each other, men are waiting for wives inside, despite a sign on the door that this is for patients ONLY. No privacy, the staff ask HIPAA private questions out loud in front of the entire staff and lobby. Is this how women and maybe cancer patients are treated?!?! YiKES, no wonder women skip the annual mammogram!!! Will not be back, in fact, trying to find an appt with Stanford Health right now and walk away from this place. They are already 45 min late with no apology. RUN AWAY.

I did not have any bad test results but I was embarrassed that the doctor discussed my results in an open area next to the workers, instead of a private room.

To be honest, I don't know much about Dr. Patel because I only see her when my exam is done and she came out reading my result. Her office staffs are horrible, 1 they don't answer their phones , 2 if you try to reach their billing department the calls will go straight to their answering machine. They never call you back even if you leaved them numeral messages. To top it up the billing department don't know their billing codes. They used the wrong code to bill the insurance company, and ending up making patients paying their portions , when the yearly exam is cover by the insurance. My opinion if Dr. Patel wants to keep her patience , she needs to re-evaluate her office staffs. The only good thing I can talk about this office are the nurses. They are very friendly and helpful.

How can a doctor's office not answer their phones??? I finally went to the office when they wouldn't return my calls and am told billing is outsourced. My insurance company is also trying reach them and figure out why there are services I didn't have listed on my bill and why they are had me pay a flat $150 extra for 3-d mammograms and ultrasounds, which ARE covered under my plan. If you have also had similar experiences with this office, please take a few minutes to file a complaint.
