Dr. Dinah Thyerlei, MD

Perhaps I caught her on a bad day, but I had a very negative experience with Dr. Thyerlei. She was aggressive and rude, and berated me to the point that the nurse apologized for her behavior. I've been a frequent flier since childhood, and she's by far the most unprofessional and disrespectful medical experience I've had. I would not recommend her, especially for patients with a trauma history or complex health issues.

Dr. Thyerlei is not only very knowledgeable, but super kind and takes time to really explain things to her patients. When she told me I was having medication overuse headaches and I needed to quit all medications, she sat me down and explained everything to me for a long time to help me calm down after I panicked about having to go off all meds. I've never had a doctor sit with me that long before (so many rush through it!), and I really appreciate her taking her time with me.I will say though, sometimes I felt a bit dismissed by her pain-wise. She told me to come back in a week if my headaches didn't improve, and when I came back to her, she told me to just wait longer and I had to ask her to please just prescribe a steroid. Fortunately I didn't have to beg her too hard, but that was kind of stressful when it didn't need to be. She was also unfamiliar with antipsychotics as a line of treatment for status migraines when I brought it up (despite top migraine doctors recommending them)
