Dr. Liu is the best! In addition to being knowledgeable, he is super friendly and takes the time to find out what's going on with a patient that could impact their health. I'm always happy to have found him. I've told my husband I can't switch medical groups because I don't want to lose Dr. Liu.

Best Doctor ever. When Dr Dennis Liu moved his office to Folsom from Q St. I didn't care how far he was I'll drive 40 miles to see him. He has always taken good care of me and answering any concerns I have. I've been blessed to have him as my doctor for my rheumatoid arthritis.

Lupus, Sgrojens and Arthritis
Dr. Liu is attentive, answers all my questions, responds to all my emails via the system and in person and has on more than one occasion refilled my meds directly from the pharmacy. I was skeptical initially because I couldn’t understand why I was flaring up and the answer basically was/still that with these conditions it’s expected. So I can’t ding the Doctor. I’ve resigned to “making the best” of it and trying natural remedies to control the chronic pain. I’m so over the meds.

No video visits, poor clinic management
Dr. Liu doesn't offer video visits anymore, although I think it may be a Mercy problem. I had to cancel my son's appointment in order to take a relative to her appointment with Dr. Liu(wouldn't have to if he offered video visit) and he didn't even touch/examine the patient!!! We did all the work-up for starting Humira weeks ago and had to call his office multiple times, even called and confirmed that work-up is complete and Humira order is being processed, also got a result letter in the mail confirming he reviewed it. Called again a month later, the first person I spoke to was clueless, then another called back and I was told 'oh we were waiting for the test results, looks like they are back so we can move forward with the order??? But they were back weeks ago and office confirmed.

I have to say I am completely unimpressed. I have decided to return to my doctor in the bay area and leave this doctor's "care". Compassion is not in this group's wheelhouse. They are completely unhelpful. I hope they never get a chronic illness and have to deal with their own level of "caregiving". Absolutely not collaborative. Patient blaming. I have a diagnosed chronic condition that requires medication to help me eat and talk. They acted like this medication was a hard narcotic. Completely ridiculous. Do not go here if you have Sjogren's Syndrome.

Dr. Liu is nice enough in person, the trouble is getting in touch with him and communicating with him and his office. Prescription refills are almost impossible. Scheduling appointments is a challenge. I have never had such a hard time with a doctor's office. When this doctor goes on vacation, no one seems to cover for him. Very disappointed in my experience and I am being nice here.

Dr. Lui is a super intelligent, dedicated doctor who helps his patients make informed decisions about treatment of auto-immune disease. He weighs the pros & cons; I trust his judgement greatly. He spends enough time to answer questions & concerns. The Rheumatology Dept. is always busy however, they will accommodate you for emergent matters. This is much appreciated.

I love Dr. Liu. I've been seeing him for 4 years. I tried about 2 years ago to shop around a little and get another opinion, and the other doctors I saw came up with the same treatment options, but with much less bedside manner. He always asks if I have any questions, and how things are feeling. He stays and answers all my questions. And if I have none, and things are status-quo, he makes it quick so I can leave! I know some of his other patients and they love him too.

I have been a patient for a year and a half to treat my RA. He likes to use email between visits for contact, but his responses are delayed, or not not medically sound. When you are in pain and not getting a response, it is excruciating. At my last appointment he switched my medication. Two weeks later, my insurance company has still not received his authorization and he is now on vacation. Between his delayed responses and staff screw-ups, I have been left in pain for a month now.

I came in for a trigger thumb and evaluation for RA. He told me I have RA, ordered X Rays, lab tests, a nasty drug and told me not to call for results as his staff can't explain the results and 'honestly, I'm too busy to spend time on the phone. I prefer to give results face to face.' I was sent away for 3 months. Very poor bedside. I won't return.

FIRST, HE'S ALWAYS BEHIND THE SCHEDULED APPT TIME. ALL HE DOES IS ASK A FEW QUESTIONS, FEELS MY HANDS AND KNEES AND TELLS ME THERE'S SWELLING, NO KIDDING WITH RA, AND OUT THE DOOR I GO ONLY TO RECEIVE A $400 BILL FOR A SIMPLE 10-15 MINUTE EXAM. GIVE ME A BREAK. IT'S ALL ABOUT MAKING MONEY FIRST AND A PATIENT'S HEALTH SECOND. HEALTH CARE IN AMERICA IS DEFINITLY GOING DOWNHILL.
