I used her for my first pregnancy because she worked with the NP that I absolutely loved and I still wanted to be able to see her. I rotated between the 2 on my appointments while pregnant. The appointments were always rushed and she was ALWAYS behind on patients. And when checking dilation and effacement she was always super rough and I hurt for hours afterwards. Fast forward to the end of my pregnancy she was pushing for induction even though I wanted to wait. I ended up going 3 days over 40 weeks. (I was fine with it) during labor everything was going fine but my husband told me when she pulled my son out she actually tore me and I had to have 12 stitches. She didn’t want to follow my plan (delayed cord clamping). A few months after giving birth I was having a lot of pain during intercourse that she couldn’t explain or offer any suggestions except for astroglide or coconut oil. I have switched back to the NP for my annual appointments and I will use a different provider for birth.

Was blown off three times after informing Shaw I was in immense pain and bleeding during my pregnancy, she never checked my cervix or put my baby on the monitor to make sure everything was okay. Nor did she show up at the hospital or call to check on me during any of my 3 hospital visits. Her hospital staff claimed that the bleeding may have been due to “bumpy roads”, recent intercourse, or a recent cervix check (Even after I told them none of the three had happened within weeks! I went to another hospital, where they informed me my pain and bleeding was actually due to me passing a kidney stone. They checked my cervix and informed me I’d already started dilating, and was having contractions every 1-2 minutes that I couldn’t even feel due to the pain from the kidney stone. When I told her I wanted to switch doctors she showed No concern or remorse. If you want a caring primary care doctor, safe pregnancy, and safe delivery I WOULD NOT recommend!!!

I had bad experiences when she would check how far I was dilated - to the point I was crying every time. Idk if it’s because of her small hands or if she was to rough, I just know it hurt and I’ve had 2 previous pregnancies and never experienced it hurting so bad. 3 days after my due date she scheduled for me to be induced and I believe it caused me to have an emergency c-section. I think my medicine to induce labor was high, and she tried breaking my water herself before it was time, it eventually broke, it hurt and I think may have put me/baby in more stress which had baby’s rates low. I was induced with my first baby, much slower process. I started at 9p the night before instead of 8a the day of and it was 10 days after my due date instead of 3 days. Then after having the c-section, I had a 2 week appointment. She ripped of 2 of my butterfly stitches, that were on my c-section, it hurt like heck and I told her I’ll take them off and they came off with ease, without yanking them off!

Dr. Shaw did my hysterectomy today and it’s hard to believe it was accomplished because I have no pain and I’m ready to go home eight hours later. She is very thorough and attentive and quick. I strongly recommend her for OB and gynecology services.

We were very blessed when we saw Dr. Shaw was on call the night our daughter went into labor. Her expertise was at hand every minute of each hour. Our daughter was in a very serious state of health with extremely high blood pressure and more. Dr. Shaw kept all on guard keeping a protective eye until all reached it's right status for our daughter and baby. I encourage all young women to consider Dr. Shaw for their doctor. We could never thank her enough for all she knew and committed to us.

I used Dr. Shaw for my first pregnancy. I only met with her twice before my son was delivered, I saw her NP instead. I was high risk and she didn't care. She was very rough with exams. I developed an infection during labor and was shaking and vomiting for 5 hours before she came in to see me. I had a family member follow the nurse to make sure she was calling Dr Shaw and she was. Then she had the nerve to complain during my c-section that she had to miss the last 18 min of a basketball game.

Dr. Shaw was fine during my pregnancy, as fine as an OBGYN can be I suppose. She delivered my second baby two weeks early. What I'm basing my review on is her aftercare. I went in at my 6 week appointment to have a check up after giving birth and see about birth control. She told me that I would have to find another doctor because I wouldn't be able to afford her services anymore. So instead of a year's worth of birth control I only got 6 months with no possiblity of refill.

I highly recommend Dr. Denise Shaw. She goes above and beyond to care for her patients. Not only is she thorough, but she truly listens and cares. She was my doctor through two healthy deliveries, as well as several miscarriages. She showed compassion and was willing to answer questions, and help through everything. She and her staff are the best!

wow. I was just looking up Dr Shaw while i was in the waiting room, wasn't planning to post. A lot you women are so self absorbed with your reviews. Dr. Shaw has treated my wife GREAT for over a decade, she has delivered two of our children. She is an awesome and smart dr. She has to deliver babies 24 hrs a day and during the work day, see's sick patients, gives bad news to people, and puts up with Medicaid divas...it can not be easy to do what she does. You want a good OBGYN see Dr. Shaw

I am a LONG time patient of Dr. Shaw. In the last few years I have seen her care level decrease. I continued to go because she is a good doctor. I left there today knowing that I will not go back. I will find a doctor that is pleasant to be around.

Worst doctor and experience ever! As a patient of Shaw's, I went to her to let her know that I was having issues with my pregnancy, she told me that everything was normal without checking me out, despite the concern I expressed. A few days after the visit, I had to have an emergency c section, having my son at 24 weeks, barely clinging to life! If Shaw would have taken the time to do her job the way she is supposed to, I, nor my son would have had to go through this experience.

this was my first gynecologist appointment and as many times as I've described the pain I experienced many colleagues, friends and family have told me that isn't normal. She was very rough with my first papsmear so rough in fact I was in so much pain it hurt sitting down and I bled really bad. I will NOT be returning.

Dr. Shaw was a great doctor. And my C-Section incision has healed amazingly!! You can't even tell that it's there. I had intended to deliver vaginally, however after a long labor, I needed an emergency C-Section because the stress was proving to be too much for the baby. Dr. Shaw and the staff at St. Francis did a great job and I'd recommend her to anyone.
