Dr, Aguila's demeanor was warm, friendly, and open to dialogue with an ear to listen to me. After our verbal exchange of thoughts, questions and answers, I developed a good understanding of what he believed could be achieved with the surgery, as well as reiterating there is no guarantee. He believed he could help relieve my pain so I could stop taking the high dose medications and other treatments for pain my family and I suffered for 5 years. After shingles, I developed, unrelenting and excruciating PHN pain. He was very transparent about what my charges would be. I agreed and he performed my surgery the following month. I thank God for the gift of Dr. Aguila and his compassionate skills as a surgeon. As an R.N. for 40 years, having worked in both the Operating and Recovery Rooms in a large metropolitan hospital, I gained a lot of experience and wisdom, allowing me to make a very educated evaluation on a surgeons skills. We achieved 95% pain reduction, off the meds, enjoying life!

I had a very bad experience with this surgeon - eleven months after my surgery to fix post herpetic neuralgia pain, I'm in more pain than before the surgery. He had an obligation to explain to me all the risks of the surgery - he didn't do it in my case. Before the surgery, his prep nurse and his anesthesiologist both promised that he would come to see me on the day of the surgery and go with me over the details of my surgery and answer all my questions. He didn't show up. He also didn't show up to check on me after the surgery. The anesthesiologist also didn't show up after the surgery to check on me, even though he kept me for six hours under with Ketamine (he also didn't bother to explain the risks of anesthesia). Right after I woke up in the recovery room, I was told to dress and leave the hospital (now defunct Papillion Family Hospital owned by Family Hospital Systems-TX). The surgical team took pictures of during the surgery, without my consent.

Dr Aquila RUINED MY LIFE He convinced me that if he removed the damage nerves cause by shingles, the pain would decrease significantly. He said he would remove 2-3 nerves from my back with a min of a 2 inch scar. After the OUTPATIENT surgery, he had removed 6 nerves with an 8 inch scar. I had minimal pain for about 2 weeks mainly due to the medication block he injected. I thought it had worked and he had been true to his word and experience.After 2 wks the real pain set in! Now, 9 months post surgery, consulting several doctors and all appalled to the fact that a surgeon would actually cut off nerves on a person. One doctor was so upset and emotional of my situation that had to walk away from the office. I’m left with constant crippling pain and an elevated diaphragm, caused by not having sufficient support after he removed the nerves. Dr Aquila has ruined my life and has cause more pain and damage to my body. If you read my review, please DON’T allow him to operate on you!

He did OVER 35 surgeries and i am now handicap!!!! He mislead me for years only to close his insurance based office to go into his own cash only office. Left me stranded and now no doctor will help me because of what he did to me. I was his guinea pig for what he does now. My life is in constant pain and suffering. I can't do simple things anymore. I'm only 47 and can't walk the zoo, can't do anything and have a handicap sticker for life...my life was ruined by this doctor.

Beware. Does not accept commercial insurance so you pay out of pocket.
