Worst doctor ever!
Absolute worst doctor I have ever dealt with. I would give negative stars if possible. She is uncaring , rude , not helpful at all. Charges for visits that last 5 minutes while she sits across the room with no evaluation. Charges for paperwork that never gets done.

Dismissive, Degrading, Rude
I stayed under Gupta’s care for too long. The office staff fluctuates from competent to absent. Dr Gupta’s disposition is strained from start to end. Easily offended when asked questions or concerns about treatment, threatened if consulting other physicians. When I asked about ongoing issues her office staff had with my pharmacy, she suggested I find another practice. That should tell you everything. I’ve never been treated so rudely. Especially with no provocation. Glad another staff member was in the room to witness.

Waste of time
Came to her in horrible pain, unable to sit, stand or walk without issues. She didn’t evaluate me at any point - I remained fully dressed even with a winter coat. Based on what I shared (years of history) she suggested it might be a disk issue and that I should do 6wks of PT elsewhere so I can eventually get insurance approval for an MRI. I started to ask questions, seeing if there was anything more that could be done but she rushed out of the room. I also requested a prescription for a muscle relaxer given the level of pain, but they forgot to send it to my pharmacy and I had to follow up with the office. The appointment lasted all of 8 minutes, yet still a huge waste of time, and copay!!! Do not go to her!

Terrible
First, the office staff at the NY Pain Center is great, very professional and very very friendly. As for Dr. Gupta, she kept me waiting for over an hour, both for my in-person appt and my subsequent telehealth appt (which I finally canceled because I was so annoyed at waiting for so long). Her demeanor is cold didn't shake hands or even introduce herself like most doctors do. I was there because I had a terrible migraine, and she didn't have anything really helpful or even sympathetic to say. The appt took all of 10 minutes and she didn't even examine me, she just sat at her desk on the opposite side of the exam room. I absolutely would not recommend her at ALL.

Need Better Communication/Office Management
I had a different experience than most of the others here on Google. I worked with Dr. Gupta and had a rough go which included these issues: 1. It was very difficult getting a hold of Dr. Gupta-Having her in the NYC office, only once a week (Thursdays), made it increasingly hard to get quick responses. Since she works out of another office most of the time, getting her to respond to questions/issues I had, there was a lot of time in between getting a resolution. 2. Lack of Communication-I would schedule phone call follow-ups with Dr. Gupta (which I was told would be the appointment by the NYPain care nursing team) at specific times and she only called me, on time, once in my entire time as a patient. But each time a phone call appointment was scheduled, I would get billed very early that day, hours before the call, the copay, to pay PRIOR to having my call. I requested this not be billed until after my calls so I could ensure Dr. Gupta would call me, and that was ignored. 3. Never knew

Not a Great Overall Experience – Jan 24, 2023

Rude, dismissive, overall horrible doctor
I've seen similar reviews for this provider, but she clearly likes/dislikes patients and provides care according to her biased emotions. She was always snide and dismissive. Beyond providing bad care, she constantly charged for "visits" that were follow up calls that lasted under a minute with appointments always starting late. I understand charging for pulling up charts, etc. but there was zero thought or effort given into her caregiving.

Dr Gupta listened to my lengthy history with my headaches and suggested nerve blocks and ablation. This is the first time in 20+ years I’ve had real relief!

Virtual appointments are a joke. I made an appointment for 10am, called at 10 to hear "Dr. Gupta is with a patient and will call you back shortly." Ok, that's fine, things go off schedule. 2pm still nothing, same response from office. 430pm and I finally get a phone call. I guess they called earlier and it went right to voicemail? Sure ok, it happens. But then I have the same experience 2 more times. No missed calls, no voicemails, no evidence they even tried to contact me. It also doesn't help that they are all too willing to give up on a patient. "Sorry those two procedures didn't work for you, thought it would help. Good luck with with your old neurologist!" Seriously, if I was having success with my neuro, I wouldn't be searching out a headache specialist. It Iook a month and 2 dozen phone calls to get paperwork sent to my employer. Oh and if you read this Dr Gupta, the voicemail box is has been full for who knows how long. Goes to show you how often they check their messages.

I didn't feel she was listening or understanding the pain issues I was having and was very poor at explaining anything. I was told after my MRI that I needed an epidural. When I went in for the epidural she decided that was the wrong treatment because the pain wasn't running down my leg-it never was. She did a different treatment on me and I don't even really know what it was-only paper work I got was discharge papers.

Dr.Gupta was beyond rude and dismissed all of my concerns refused to answer questions and took away all the medication that I had been previously prescribed by another dr even though I passed my urine test. She was so unprofessional to the point that she actually walked out of the office and refused to speak to me about my own treatment plan even though all I did was ask one question to try and understand her plan. She left me with no doctor even though I am having surgery next mont on my spine

Dr.Gupta had to take over after my first PM doctor moved.Since then she has listened, and is always putting my pain as her top priority. I have other issues and she always keeps that in mind while truly helping my chronic pain..I would highly recommend her. She is easy to talk to, straight forward about medications, side effects, etc. I really appreciate feeling comfortable with her-She is very caring and understands pain is different for everyone- Thank you Dr.Gupta !! 5 stars
