Terrible communication - avoid the problems
Due to a complete lack of clear communication I canceled my appointment with Dr. Tendler/Durham Gastroenterology. I had a colonoscopy 10 years ago here and all went very well. Now - if you attempt to call you will go thru endless menus and ultimately NEVER be able to speak to a human. When you leave a message you are informed that you will receive a response within 48 hours!! My appointment had to be cancelled as I never received prep instructions until the day before the appointment. (past the time needed to complete the prep). Repeated attempts to call went unanswered. Subsequently I made an appointment with UNC for my colonoscopy. It was like night and day. Clear professional communication. Easy to call and speak to a human being. They are even sending all prep materials direct to my home. I understand that the problems I encountered with Dr. Tendlers office are how the office is administered and not him directly. However, it is his practice - AVOID!

Dr. Tendler, You are wonderful!!! You took care of my problem very well. You listen to your patients, you don't talk "through them" nor "over them" but "to them". Your bedside manner is impeccable!! You are the best!!

I would definitely recommend Dr. Tendler. He takes a genuine interest in me and progress to getting better. He's always been upfront and honest with any questions or concerns I may have. The time spent in the appointment is always educational and somewhat of a relief to know where I honestly stand health wise.
