Lumbar Surgery
Almost 12 yrs ago, Dr. Strausser cleaned up 2 ruptured Intervertebral disks between L2 & L3 and L3 & L4 and cleaned up bone spurs on the surrounding vertabrae. Before he performed surgery he tried steroid shots which didn't work for long. There were days that I couldn't walk, even taking strong pain meds. The surgery was a complete Success. I just turned 60 and owe him my life. I don't know how I would have lived with the kind of pain that I felt before the surgery. All I have now, is the occassional stiffness in my lower back which is expected at my age. I'd go back to him without hesitation.

Great doctor!
I waited until I was fully healed to post my review because I wanted it to based on the whole experience. Basically, office visits, surgery and post op care has been fantastic! Highly recommend.

I find it hard to believe this man is still practicing medicine. He did a lumbar spinal fusion and he sent me home that day. I started having tremendous pain and called his office and had to leave a message. I called all the next day and never received a reply, finally on the third day he responded and had me come into the office. By this time I could not sit, I had to lay on my right side due to severe pain. He had me go through tests for several days until after a week they found there was a pool of spinal fluid at the base of my spine. He had nicked the spinal dura, the covering of the spinal cord, during the procedure and had "patched it" according to him, but the patch did not hold. I had to have another surgery, which he charged me full price for. I have numbness in my leg and back pains to this day.

I've had the experience of allowing many Orthopedic and Neurosurgeons evaluate me for the problems I have had in the past and are experiencing now. I am 63 yrs old. I knew 2 years ago my lower back and neck would have to be surgically fixed but I was determined to wait until I could not wait any longer. My insurance did not allow me to see the Dr's I had used in the past. By chance I stumbled upon Dr. David Strausser with The Woodlands Sports Medicine Center. I was a little apprehensive about my first appointment with him as I had read some reviews claiming he had no bedside manor and was rude. Nothing could be further from the truth. I found Dr Strausser and his staff to be the very best experience I have had to date with any surgeon. Finally I have a Dr willing to talk to me and explain in detail exactly what is going on with my lower back and neck in terms that could be understood. My experience here was fantastic. On a scale from 1 to 10 I give a 12. Also there was no waiting.

He did surgery on my 80 year old father in 2011. My dad was totally fine and it was a minor surgery. He came out of surgery in and he was in full blown dementia. Dr. Strausser said his surgery was perfect. Not so perfect because I lost my father. He died 6 weeks after having your surgery.

Dr. Strausser completely fixed a herniated disc in my back. I’m young and he made sure we tried everything before we decided to do surgery. I can definitely say that surgery was a great idea, it was a very fast recovery and a good experience.

I am 63 was over weight and have degenerative arthritis in my back. A recent accident had caused excruciating lower back pain w severe muscle spasms. I was unable to stand and only lay on my right side. Dr. Strausser examined me and told me that he could fix my injury w surgery and all my nerve pain would be gone afterwards. He explained the surgery procedure and what it would involve to my wife and I and answered all of our questions and concerns. Recovery during the first week after surgery was fairly painful from the incision but as Dr. Strausser had promised I no longer had any nerve pain or muscle spasms. My healing and life have improved quickly w rehab exercises. Some reviews have criticized Dr. Strausser for his bed side manner but my wife and I found him to be a great doctor who tells you like it is and doesn’t waste time. We appreciated that. Post-op he advised losing 50 lbs. and building up my core strength. I have taken his advice. He improved my life. Thank you!

My wife has a twenty year old back injury. It was originally a work Comp claim but finally got to use my own insurance. There was a lot more damage than showed on the MRI. Dr. Strausser was able to fix her spine and give her relief. Dr. Strausser is an excellent spine surgeon. We can not thank him enough for the relief he has given her. His bedside manner was superb. He personally checked on her every day. We would highly recommend him to anyone. --5 stars.

This physician saw me for lower back pain that was radiating down my legs and causing me to fall. Dr. Strausser did not have any kind of bedside manner. I had to ask for a steroid pack because the pain was so aweful. When he observed my MRI results he told me that I had normal deterioration of the vertebrae in my back I needed to lose weight and strengthen my core. I left his office and went for a second opinion elsewhere. My second opinion took a look at my MRI and said that I was walking bone on bone because my disc between my L5 and S1 was totally disintegrated. It has been 3 years now and I am pain free. Totally disappointed in Dr. Strausser.

Dr. Strausser literally changed my life!! I was debilitating pain when I first went to see him, but determined to not take pain meds. He wasted no time in sending me for scans and other testing. He was thorough, honest, and exuded confidence and trust. After a double laminectomy, I was pain free for the first time in over a year. He explained things well, and answered all of my questions. His PA was also very, very nice and professional. I have a ton of respect for Dr. Strausser and have recommended him to several people.

Dr. Strausser performed a cyst removal and a lower back fusion on my wife approximately 18 months ago. We had our final visit for follow up care today and the total care and understanding that we received from him was outstanding. There was no pressure toward surgery but as my wife told him we are not getting younger and still have a life to live so lets move on with it. We were fortunate to have found a doctor with his skill. If you have back pain then you have found your doctor!!!

If you are looking for a straight shooting. no BS surgeon, he is your man. First, he is a fantastic lumbar surgeon. That's the only surgery he does, period. Lumbar only. He actually wants surgery to be a last resort treatment. So if you have lower back problems, I can recommend Dr. Strausser whole heartedly.

Awsome Doctor, Awsome staff, my pcp recomended him and was spot on! I was a poor candidate for fusion, due to my weight, he told me what to expect, the dangers, anpicipated outcome. He got it done with less pain than I was expecting, as I continue to recover, I am confident He and his staff will make sure I attain the best results my body an give me. Would recomend this surgeon to anyone.

By the end of the visit I wanted to punch him I was so pissed at him. He did not listen to me, was overly rude and thoroughly condescending. I do not know how he is as far as a surgeon but I would not let him cut on my back. Patient support and empathy is very important in medicine and this man (can't say doctor) exhibited neither.

I had a collapsed disc and back in December had fusion surgery on my L5/S1. I only wish I had done it sooner. I'm 4 months post and I have been pain free since my surgery. My experience with Dr. Strausser was wonderful; I knew I was in good hands and trusted him completely to perform this operation. He is very direct and to some that may be off putting. However, I went to him for his skills and knowledge on the procedure I needed, and am so glad I did.
