I'm glad I went to Dr. Shephard
The appointments were great. I loved all the staff at the practice. Dr. Shephard answered every question. I went from a constant 8 on the pain scale to a zero! I've not had pain since the surgery. I didn't even need the pain pills after surgery! It couldn't have been better! Don't even consider going anywhere else. Of the walker and cane in less than 4 weeks! I feel great!

Aloof and arrogant
Dr. Shephard was hostile about wearing a mask (during a spike in local COVID cases). He did not listen to patient about treatment goals. Also, one should not bother making an appointment for hip replacement if you have a BMI over 25; he won't perform the surgery. This fact is infuriating because they have the patient information, appointments are scheduled a month or more out and then one has to wait over an hour in reception, wasting everyone's time. He comes across as dismissive and arrogant.

Hip Replacement - March 7, 2023
Dr. Shephard and the entire team of medical professionals and staff provided excellent care from pre-op to post-op. I was excited to have my hip replaced because I have complete confidence in a positive outcome and returning to a life of golf, fishing and interacting with my family and grandchildren- pain free.

I have been having severe pain in my hips since November 2019 and every doctor I went to stated it was a muscle tear/injury. I was not getting any better so I called Lubbock Sports Medicine and was introduced to Dr Shephard. He is totally responsible for my wellbeing as I have severe Osteoarthritis to both of my hips which are bone on bone. My first total hip replacement was January 5th 2021 and I went from a scale of 10 for pain to a zero. I go in March 24th for my second surgery and I am so happy that I will be pain free!! He is an awesome doctor as well as each and everyone of his staff. I highly recommend him!!!

As an extremely nervous patient from the very beginning, Dr. Shephard and his entire team (schedule coordinator, physician’s assistant, athletic coordinator, etc.) have gone above and beyond to accommodate my needs, fears, and concerns. Having had several surgeries over my lifetime in the Houston and Dallas areas, I can say this doctor and his team are the best team I have EVER had. Dr. Shephard has met with me each and every time I have an appointment; he is firm with expectations, but so exceedingly kind and helpful. This doctor reads everything from PT notes, etc. and is completely prepared when he sees me at each visit. If the time ever comes when I need another surgery, this doctor is the only one I would even consider. He has been a blessing to me. Thank you, Dr. Shephard for a great new knee!! db

Dr. Shephard may have a friendly bedside manner but his surgical skills are sorely lacking. His ego prevents him from admitting his lack of knowledge and he harm his patient his patient rather than referring them to a physician with knowledge and skill that he doesn’t possess. Do not endanger your health or life by allowing this doctor to treat you.

I would not recommend Dr. Shephard to my worst enemy. He did hip replacement on me and ruined my life, and I am not exaggerating. Maybe he has learned something over the past few years but at the time I had my surgery his skills were sorely lacking. Please, please listen to me and consider a different physician. I would be happy to provide anyone with specific details.

Wait time is way too long. Office extremely noisy, TVs on loud, offensive chatter on channel playing. Chairs uncomfortable for folks who are hurting. Need better scheduling.
