Amazing
Thoughtful, caring manner. Went over and above to explain my mother's condition. Made time to talk to all of my siblings. We knew my mom was dying and lots of difficult conversations were had with Dr. Schutte who could not have been more thoughtful, caring, and informative in these discussions.

Dr. Schutte thinks outside the box
In 2016 I was treated in the ER for a stomach infection. I had the same type of pain occur in 2022 and went back to the ER. I was being treated for an infection again. However, Dr. Schutte took the time to read my full chart and asked me a lot of questions. He put the pieces together that I most likely had a lactose allergy. I have been off lactose for only a week now, but have noticed a significant difference. Had I not been lucky enough to be assigned to Dr. Schutte, I might have gone home being treated for an infection with antibiotics. I would have gone back to eating dairy, continued to have mild symptoms, and might have ended up back in the ER years later...for a third time. But because of Dr. Schutte's thoughtful care, I have hope this destructive cycle will end. Thank you Dr. Schutte!

Nothing but good things to say
Dr. Schutte cared for my father when he was hospitalized in early June at Swedish Ballard. I spoke to him several times by phone and he is by far the best physician I have encountered at Swedish. First, he had read my father's chart, so wasn't asking me questions that are already documented (seems basic, but it's not - typically when I speak with his providers, I spend 75% of the time rehashing what is already documented). He asked insightful questions, listened, and provided insight... and my father has improved significantly (I believe) because of his care. Also just seems like a very good person.

I received excellent care from Dr. Schutte while I was hospitalized at Swedish Ballad for five days. He was dogged in trying to find the source of my infection and was a great advocate in arranging surgical solutions after I was discharged. I found his manner reassuring and patient-oriented.

My husband suffered from Cirrhosis, brought on by Alcohol Abuse Disorder, a neurological condition of which Dr. Schutte apparently had little understanding. He missed meetings & was clearly annoyed by my emotional state. I had to chase him down to get him to talk to me & tell me my husband was dying. When we went in to tell my husband, I leaned over to tell him, and was crying. Schutte literally yelled at me "Can I speak to my patient now?" before telling my confused husband. Horrific treatment

Dr. Schutte was kind, considerate, efficient, and smart. I felt confident in his medical decision-making on my behalf. I would return to Ballard Swedish based on my experience under his care.
