Excellent, Professional Surgeon
I’ve had two microdiscectomy surgeries with Dr. Oliver-Smith and I can not recommend him enough. He is professional, attentive and compassionate. He fit me in even though he was booked, and he didn’t rush me at all, even though he was busy. Not many neurosurgeons care enough to do something like that. He explained everything to me and put me at ease completely. I would never trust anyone else to operate on my spine. He is simply the best!

I had increasing pain and right arm numbness for two years. When neck pain increased beyond tolerance even with pain management, i looked for help. A friend recommended Dr. Oliver-Smith. Through his expertise, I finally got an accurate diagnosis and he performed surgery that worked. I could not be more satisfied. Plus, he is connected to his patients and treats them with honesty and respect. He's one of the good guys. Thank you, Doc!

Dr. Oliversmith is a brilliant surgeon and a great guy overall. He very kindly saw me at short notice between his surgeries when he typically doesn’t see his office visit patients on those days. I am a 42 year old woman and had a cervical herniated disc. I found the fact he was well informed on my other medical conditions despite them not being his specialty very impressive. He operated on me and I have had no problems since. I went from being borderline suicidal from the constant pain to loving life again. All thanks to this man and his equally wonderful office staff. If you need neurosurgery, this is the man you want to do it.

My 80-year-old Dad had spinal stenosis and a synovial cyst. He is in great health and very active. We were concerned about how this would impact his quality of life. Every part of our experience was world-class! The office staff was patient-centric and refreshingly pleasant. Allison, the PA, was knowledgeable, took time to make us feel comfortable, and went out of her way to answer questions. Dr. Oliver-Smith exceeded all expectations! He is not only an exceptional surgeon, but he is also a kind and compassionate human being. My Dad is better than ever. Dr. Oliver-Smith and his office restored our hope in healthcare!

I waited in the waiting room to see Dr. Oliver-Smith for 45 minutes past my appointment time to have him only spend maybe 5-7 minutes with me in the exam room. He looked at my MRI from 1year ago and determined I did not need any surgery but to consider pain management. The radiologist who read the MRI saw impingement of the exiting left L3 nerve root. Can that be causing my pain? Maybe a new MRI would help to see? I guess no surgery meant no money from me so I was out the door in 5 minutes.

Saw this doctor for removal of lipoma/scar tissue growth in my back. Would not believe my pain symptoms or recommendations from my PCP in regards to my situation. Stated the lump is nothing more than a muscle adhesion. Advised to seek alternative pain management techniques and would have those providers contact me - and he never did.

Dr. Olover Smith put no value into my pain or my concerns after two failed micro-d surgeries, same level, L5-S1. He was very quick and felt as though I was wasting his time. There was an error of critical thinking as my disc clearly was re-herniated a third time as per radiologist at AGH. Had second Opinion with Dr. at Shady side and disc is re-herniated as per surgeon and radiologist and a fusion is needed.
