Would NEVER recommend this doctor!
He is supposedly an excellent surgeon, but has no bedside manners, is arrogant, and shows absolutely no compassion or concern for the spouse, in our case, my mother. He treated my mother poorly after doing surgery on my dad for polycythemia - he removed Dad's spleen and my dad never left the hospital - he died eight weeks after the surgery. When it was apparent the last couple of days that my dad would not make it, Dr. Nagorney transferred Dad off his case load and we were told later that it was to prevent a 'death' being on his watch. He even saw my mom and the rest of our family in the hall the day my dad was dying and he did not even have the decency to offer any words to my mom - just gave her a cold look and moved on down the hall. I'll never forget that look. We went to visit Dr. Petit (supervising doctor) after Dad's death and we were told that yes, indeed, Dr. Nagorney needed a lot of improvement on his bedside manners. I hope he has changed over the years.

Amazing Doctor!!
David Nagorney will always be a hero to My husband and I. He did a liver resection on him for Cholangiocarcinoma in 2016. He did an amazing job Other doctors had said that resection surgery was not possible. This doctor was able to think outside the box and make it happen. Cancer came back and he resected again in 2018. He gave my husband an additional seven years old life when we were told he had two months. Doctor Nagorney will always be our hero as he literally gave us life with his knowledge and skills. We were so lucky to have found such and amazing doctor. My husband passed away in 2023 . I would be remiss not to let the world know that this doctor gave us seven more years and I am forever greatful! If you are ever told that resection for your liver can't be done, please check with this doctor before giving up because if there is any possible way at all , this doctor will figure it out.

Dr Nagorney did a liver resection on my husband July 2017. Doctors in San Diego said that it could not be done, and if attempted he would die of liver failure. 3.5 years later my husband is doing well. He did have one distant metastasis that was treated with immunotherapy and proton. We owe his life being saved to Dr Nagorney. He is an amazing surgeon.

Dr. Nagorney performed a liver resection on my mother five days ago. He completed a surgery that Nebraska doctors said could not be done. He successfully removed multiple cancerous lesions. We will be eternally grateful for his skill and expertise. He gave my mom her life back.

In 2000 i was transferred from a small town in Arkansas via ambulance to the Mayo Clinic. Dr Nagorney performed a liver resection as well as partial removal of my diaphragm. My diagnosis was malignant germ of the liver, it is now 2018 and I remain cancer free. I’ve not made it back to Rochester Mn to tell how thankful that God used him to save my life and for that I am eternally grateful!! Thank you so much Dr Nagorney, you are truly the best!!

Did an excellent job with a splenectomy and post operative care. Be aware that he does not use nurse communicators during surgery and does not typically communicate with the person accompanying the person being operated on immediately before, during, or immediately after surgery. I was told by Mayo Clinic that nearly all of their surgeons do. So if you're accompanying someone for a surgery with Dr. Nagorney, know that no news is good news. That will save you a lot of potential stress.
