Avoid this Doctor
The office staff is rude. The Doctor barely says anything during your visit. The eyeglass prescription that I was given was completely wrong. I had an optometrist check it when I went to buy glasses. They compared their prescription to the one Dr. Mendelblatt wrote. Mendelblatt was off on both the power and 90 degrees off on the astigmatism. They dialed both prescriptions into the phoropter, and it was obvious to me that Mendelblatt's prescription was way off.

As a new patient I felt that he was unprofessional, dismissive, aloof, arrogant, and hurried. He barely introduced himself and avoided my questions, disrespectful and uncaring. Compared to my previous doctor he gave me a very incomplete exam, was not interested in my history of an unusual eye condition, and did not want my medical records. Sadly I will not go back and cannot recommend him in any way.

Generally displeased with the visit. Scheduled with the elder Dr. Mendelblatt, Frank, but ended up seeing David, without permission or warning. We found the doctor to be very brief, the exam very limited and the doctor unable to provide information or insight to general questions.

Dr. David Mendelblatt so severely misdiagnosed my wife she nearly went blind. Apparently he doesn't know the difference between floaters & severe vision loss in one eye. Thank God a neighbor recommended St. Luke's who examined her & referred her to a neural ophthalmologist, who found a pituitary cyst pressing on her optic nerves & sent her to a neurologist for immediate surgery. Since surgery, most, if not all of the vision she lost while she wasted time going to Dr. Mendelblatt has returned.

Dr. Mendelblatt is very knowledgeable and a good listener. I've dealt with serious vision problems since I was 5 years old and truly appreciate the new technology available to me and that he grows his knowledge to embrace new developments in vision care. Relocating from Michigan to Florida meant finding a new ophthalmologist and it was a blessing to find Dr. Mendelblatt. He has guided me through various eye issues and I couldn't be happier with the results.
