Disappointed
I would give zero stars if possible. I had a knee replacement 3 1/2 years ago and have had knee pain for 3 of those years. Sought his help as the surgeon who did the procedure has since left. He only made one suggestion, an injection, which added hip pain to my knee pain. It took him three months after that to tell me he couldn't help me.

disaster In most cases a resident operates on Manning's THR patients ----- most patients are simply used as teaching aids for resident trainees ... A resident operated on my wife ---botched the surgery ---- and she bled to death on the operating table. Manning refused to admit a resident was operating. Manning failed to timely stop the bleeding and give his patient blood. should have IN WRITING Manning himself will do operation

I’m a 72 year old female who suffered from arthritis of the rt hip for over 6 years. Finally decided to have the replacement. I am very fortunate that Dr Manning was my surgeon!Aug. 5 was the date and in 3 weeks I was walking w/full weight, no assistance, no meds and felt the strengthening of the entire rt leg! Highly recommend Dr Manning.

I’ve had both knees replaced in the last three years by Manning, and most recently my hip in September 2019. Excellent outcomes. The post surgery discomfort was nothing compared to the pain in the months before surgery. In surgery, the most important factor is simply the skill of the surgeon. It determines everything, obviously. He’s skilled! In addition to his skill, Dr Manning and his staff developed an effective pre-surgery protocol (info, exercises, medication adjustments, antibacterial soap for shower the week prior) and post surgery protocol (pain meds and dosage/scheduling, exercises and physical therapy plan, and blood clot prevention, etc.) all of which have been 100% successful for my three operations. I’m a 75 year old male, and a compliant patient when it comes to these events. I’m very pleased with and grateful to Dr Manning and the ortho floor at Northwestern. I’m very happy to recommend him with my highest regards. Thomas Nangle Chicago

A brilliant surgeon. I had five separate meetings with him pre and post-op. He does anterior arthroplasty which does NOT require outpatient therapy. I would recommend Dr Manning to anyone needing total hip-replacement. He operated on my right hip that had severe osteoarthritis. In three weeks I was driving, in six weeks I was swimming and walking 30 minutes a day. No doubt the first two weeks were awful on a walker and partial weight bearing. But the prize is not being disabled and "crippled."

Dr. Manning is arrogant, dismissive with a horrible bedside manner. Waited for a month for a consult appointment, then waited 1.5 hours to be seen. He and his staff performed NO physical exam on my knee and he was dismissive of my issues. The support staff are equally condescending and rude. Don't waste your time or copays, find another doctor!!!!

Had my first appointment with Dr Manning in February 2018. At that meeting he explained my condition and had an attack plan for total knee replacement on both knees. Besides being very professional, he is very down to earth and explains everything in lay mans terms. I had my first knee done the end of April and was golfing by the end of June. My second knee was done the end of November and I'm going on a cruise the end of January! If you need knee or hip surgery look no farther.

Dr. Manning has been wonderful and I would highly recommend him for joint replacement surgery. I recently had a knee replacement and it has gone well so far. Six years ago he also did a hip replacement, and that was also a very positive experience. He is a very caring doctor and his team is also very good.

Dr. Manning is extremely professional and knowledgeable. He has a matter-of-fact attitude with a nice touch of humor. Dr. Manning made me feel confident from the first consult that I had made the right decision to have him perform my surgery. He answered our questions patiently and completely. After surgery he checked on me regularly, making sure to speak with my husband. He seemed to genuinely care about my well-being and the positive outcome of this procedure.

I saw doctor Manning after and I have been contacted by his office every day since surgery. He is not just a great surgeon his staff is also excellent. I'm looking forward to my appointment next week.
