God bless him and his family so he can keep saving people. People sometimes do not understand the little time he has for you because he has to save other people. He sacrifices himself, his time and his family to save people. He is still human and still can make mistakes. God bless him truly.

Dr. Jayakar saved my dad’s life. He went in for a scope of his heart & if he needed a stent, they planned to do so. It was discovered that my dad needed 11-15 stents & 2 bypasses. The hospital was scared to even let my dad drive home. They reached out to Dr. Jayakar, whose surgeries were booked out for months. He made an exception due to the state my dad was in. We were told they were going to instead do 5 bypasses, & planned to keep my dad’s heart beating through the process. Dr. Jayakar had a tough job ahead of him, but he undoubtedly saved my dad’s life. We were blessed to have his experience & expertise as the surgeon, who saved my dad. I am eternally grateful. Thank you beyond words Dr. Jayakar. I will never forget the care & valuable advice for moving forward, that you instilled upon my dad.

Difference Maker
I am so glad Dr Jayakar and his staff call Longview Regional there home. You never plan for a heart attack, but you pray that if something ever does happen that you and your family are in great hands. We were in the BEST hands and Dr Jayakar and his TEAM made you feel that way from the first time we all met. Knowledgeable, very caring and made us feel at ease knowing the surgery was going to be less invasive. Even though it was a triple bypass, he was able to keep the recovery time to a minimum by the techniques he used. So happy with the procedure and the entire process. Dr Jayakar and his TEAM are the BEST.

Couldn't have found a better Surgeon
Immediately upon being diagnosed with a severe heart blockage Dr Jayakar and his staff had me in their capable care and were working on a plan to repair my damaged heart. After several additional tests the plan was finalized, and surgery scheduled. Surgery went as planned with recovery proceeding rapidly as Doctor Jayakar has developed a well-established procedure to guide the patient back to full heath. The key to the success of the surgery was his use of minimally invasive surgery procedures and beating heart surgery. I am amazed at how little pain I have experienced during my recovery. Yes, I am weak from the surgery but surprised at how fast i am recovering. I would highly recommend Doctor Jayakar.

Performed a quintuple bypass on me in 2021. Took me off effective pain meds (hydrocodone) three days after surgery resulting in two weeks of excruciating pain. Left plastic stitches in the incision, wound didn't heal for a month. Just did a cath and found one artery totally sealed and another needed balloon expansion. Will have to have a repeat bypass.

My mother received excellent care from Dr. Jayakar. He performed an aortic valve replacement, and her quality of life has greatly improved! Dr. Jayakar was an outstanding listener, communicator, and leader throughout the entire medical process. It was obvious that his team has great respect and admiration for him. I am beyond grateful that Longview has such a talented, caring doctor and surgeon.

Dr. Jayakar “rescued me.” I had a blood clot in my femoral artery. I lived in a town where there was no vascular surgeon and he agreed to take my case on an emergency basis. I was transferred to Longview Regional Hospital where he did the surgery. The hospital was wonderful with caring staff. Dr Jayakar was very thorough and the tests were done like clockwork. I would highly recommend him and Longview Regional.

I recently had a quadruple bypass surgery performed by Dr. David Jayakar and his team. I don't think I could find a better heart surgeon in the United States. He explained everything that they were going to do and everything went well. A day after my surgery for some reason i had a set back and almost lost my life but thanks to Dr. Jayakar and his team I am alive and doing well. East Texas is fortunate to have such a find surgeon.

Dr. J did a quadruple by pass on me. His procedure did not require a full split of the chest, only a partial. I had no issues with the chest healing nor pain as did a very good friend of mine who had the same surgery at Baylor during the same time period. I think that my friends recovery was more painful and difficult than mine due to the "partial crack" of Dr. J's method versus the "full crack" done at Baylor. I truly believe the good Lord was watching over me when my cardiologist was unable to stent my blockage and Dr. J came into my life!!!!!!!!

We switched from Good Shepherd to Longview Regional. We had gone to the ER and were referred to Dr. Jayakar. I am so happy that we switched surgeons. Dr. Jayakar is the best. He is very respectful and his bedside manners are far and beyond. His office staff are friendly and very helpful. My husband is on an IV and the home health snipped a hole in his pic. We had to go the ER to get it replaced. There was no pic team available. They called Dr. Jayakar and he told them he would be there to see about it. I cannot tell you how impressed I was. Not many top surgeons take time out of their Friday nights to come in. I am so Thankful for him. He fixed his pic and checked on him the next day. Dr. Jayakar you are a blessing to our family and your care to your patients is far and beyond. Thank you Thank you Thank you!!!

I am sad to report how unhappy I am with Dr Jayakar! He opened my chest up to remove a Thymus Cyst off the top of my heart. I saw him literally 2 seconds before my surgery and never saw him again. He never came to check on me, sent his nurse instead. I did get a call from him, asking how I was and if I had any questions and to inform me he was going out of town! Then I go in for my post OP appointment and again no Dr Jayakar only his nursing staff, which by the way is awesome!! I have never had surgery and not been seen by the surgeon! I just cant believe he doesn't care anymore about his patient's then this..

On October 15, 2015, Dr. David Jayakar performed "beating heart sugery" on me to repair two valves in my heart. The prep for surgery was complete and precise, my visits pre-surgery were pleasant and reassuring. He informed me that he calls on God for assistance in the surgical room. Should an emergency occur during surgery, I would want Dr. Jayakar and his surgical team to be in charge of my welfare. Post surgery found him to be very attentive, informative, and caring. There were no complications with my surgery, and I was 80 years old when this surgery was performed; I would recommend Dr. Jayakar to anyone who needs cardio/vascular surgery. Secondly, I thank GOD for giving us the name of Dr. David Jayakar. In 2014,he performed three different open-heart surgeries on me in 30 hours. The RESULTS----I made it!!! Twenty Three days later, I walked out of Regions Hospital with instructions from the good doctor, eat eggs and walk.. Dr J won me over first time I met him. Very kind Christian man. He explained everything about my valve replacement that I had concerns about. I was very afraid to have the surgery that I needed until I talked to Dr. J. When I left his office I had no hesitation as to the surgery and had complete faith in Dr. J. I have nothing but good things to say about him. Thank you Dr. Jayakar.
