My life the last 10 years, I owe to him
Dr Gerber did my liver surgery in 2013 for Cholangiocarsanoma! Resection liver and remove large portion of my right liver! He was so caring and honest about not knowing what the outcome would be! This was a deadly form of bile duct cancer! I have now survived 10 years. So greatful for the years I have spent with family, they had only gave me a year at most. I could have been relaxed as I went into an 8 hr surgery! Dr Gerber never left my side!

De Gerber was the most kind, sincere,,honest, empathetic, understanding, brilliant dr that I have ever met in my life. The dr who was first assigned to my daughters case and surgery I am sure was competent but every time we met with him his story of what and how he felt her case would change. Her surgery had to be postponed for a few days due to transplant scheduling and that was the best thing that could ever happen.. we “inherited” Dr Gerber who within the first 10 minutes of meeting him we were completely informed of exactly his position that he felt best moving forward. He was completely Up to date regarding her very first visit to the last visit weeks before. He put all of us at ease and the entire staff ran like a well oiled machine. have had multiple surgeries, my husband just had surgeries in both hands and we both agreed we had never been kept involved and updated as we were on Tuesday. God’s plans ARE ALWAYS PERFECT!. THANK YOU DR GERBER, UNC, and all the staff!
