Wants to move on quickly to the next patient
I was a patient of Dr. D’Agate’s at Catholic Health from 2021 to January 2024 for heart disease. I thought he was very competent since he had many accolades in the field. In the beginning, he seemed friendly but arrogant, as he acted as though I shouldn’t ask him any questions about my condition. I ignored this for several years, thinking it was just his personality and would not affect my care. However, on 1-24-24, I had a biopsy and was instructed not to do any strenuous activity for at least 5 days. Unfortunately, Dr. D’Agate had previously scheduled me for a stress test on 1-27-24. My wife and I showed up early and asked to speak to him about whether the stress test would be dangerous for me given the biopsy instructions. I said I had “about 5 questions” I wanted to ask him, and his response was “I’ll take two”. I took this as sarcasm, but it turned out he was serious. In a very insulting and condescending way, he said I was “wasting his time” with “silly “ questions.

Amazing doctor
I love him and the practice. Yes it is a bit of a rush but I don’t want to be in his office all day. I’m in and out and he explains what I need. He is well respected and good at his craft. He may go quickly with his patients but he does know them. He also takes concern with you. I was concerned about a family member and he was willing to reach out to them and help. Plus if you forget to do something you can always email the practice and someone will get back to you. He has a sense of humor that makes it easy to be there. The sarcasm could possibly come off wrong to some people but I 100% appreciate a man who is will not to be stiff. My only con is they can’t get my co payment right but that partially is my insurance card issue.

Terrible
the first time I had a bad experience is when he was rushing me out of the room and said, Oh let me listen to your heart and then proceeded to tell me it sounded great, however, he did not have his stethoscope in his ears.. so I give him a pass and go back. I went in for some test and asked to speak with him, I was told no, I didn't have an appointment ( thinking Im here, if I didn't have an appointment, I wouldn't be here).. so I went home and called, the staff told me the nurse would call me back, I said I didn't want to talk to the nurse, I wanted to talk to my doctor. He finally calls me back 5 days later and tells me he has no time to speak with me and hangs up.. Said he has patients to see (mind you they called me at 7am) so I said, I guess Im not a patient. So I booked an appointment with another cardiologist. Bye Dr. Dave... take more time for Dr. Daves 411 and keep ignoring your patients.. soon you will have none.. What goes around, comes around.

If you like to be rushed out, he's your man
Well the one time I went in for a check up and he said let me listen to your heart and neglected to place his stethoscope in his ears and then said, your heart sound great! I was like really. Now my 2nd experience was, wanted to speak to him while I was in the office for a test. I was told, I could not speak to the doctor unless I had an appointment. I was there for an appointment, Nonetheless, I went home and called and requested a call back. He called my back 5 days later and told me he had no time to speak to me because he has patients. Well I thought I was a patient.. that is solved. I am no longer a patient of this doctor. He is rude and spends absolutely no time listening to your issues. He needs to get his head out of his butt with social media and start being a doctor to people who need a doctor.

Good at first visit, then not good on 2nd visit
The first visit I found him to be good, friendly and seemingly thorough. He planned a large array of tests for me, all of which I had done. I am a health nut and don't smoke or drink and I run 4 days per week and hit the gym 5 days per week, and have an impeccable diet. On the 2nd visit, he spent about 45 seconds with me, neglecting to go thoroughly over my tests, and he just wanted to put me on a medication which he wanted me to take for the rest of my life. No "informed consent", I did not receive that, which all patients should. He couldn't get out the door fast enough. "Take this pill for the rest of your life" and on to the next patient, and out the door in 45 seconds. Well, you lost me as a patient.

This office has problems keeping schedules
I had an appointment scheduled for 8:45am. When the office called to confirm, they changed it to 10am, without my prior knowledge or consent. I always make my appointments for either 8:30-8:45am due to my work schedule. I make these appointments far in advance to get these times. They claimed that I made the mistake, I did not. I love my cardiologist, but the office staff is just bad and needs more training. It is not okay to blame the patient or your computer systems. Humans scheduled these appointments. The do not take any personal responsibility for their own mistakes and do not try to make it right. Very angry about this.

I made my appointment 1 month ago for testing, arrived this morning and was told I don’t have an appointment! Dr Dagate seems to be a good Dr but his staff needs some customer service training, they are horrible! I handed them my appointment card my appointment was today at 7:00 am and they told me I couldn’t be seen, no further explanation.I will be returning to my previous Cardiologist.

Where to start? Maybe if he stayed off Facebook he'd take care of his patients better. Can never get appointment or speak to anyone even in emergency, because your chronically on hold and then disconnected. Partners don't communicate with each other. Results are never reviewed or explained. Drs rush you out of office. They never give alternatives to treatments when side effects experienced.Staff is rude and most have no knowledge of cardiovascular terms,, drugs and possible complications that can arise when talking to patients in need. As a healthcare professional I have never experienced such disregard of patient care. I have seen 4 of the physicians in this practice in office and hospital and after months of trying to get proper care and follow i have been forced to find another physician that actually care about doing the right thing. Had I been treated properly early when ill a hospital admission and subsequent invasive procedure could have been avoided

I am sorry to see that others had similar negative experiences with Dr. D’Agate. He is arrogant and hesitant to adequately explain unfamiliar terms. He apparently developed a heart related YouTube channel that he pushed during the appointments. That was not what we wanted in a doctor.

This guy is arrogant He barely stayed in the room for a minute. He was rushing around and getting people in and out of there so fast he had sweat beads above his lip. He asked me to call my Dr for a report he should have had then tells me how he doesn’t have time for this. The man is just running a factory to get as many in and out as he can to make a buck His bedside manner is garbage. Don’t bother asking him a question because he is a condescending tool

I was in terrible pain and scheduled for a total hip replacement. I didn't even know if I could get on a table for the pre-surgical testing. Dr. D'Agate expedited and condensed the pre-surgical testing and, as a result, I was able to have the hip replacement 3 weeks earlier. He saved me 3 additional weeks of unnecessary pain. I thank him for listening.

Although Dr. D'Agate is knowledgeable, his staff is very rude and arrogant at both his bayshore and smithtown offices. If you can tolerate such arrogance then I would say go to Dr. D'agate. If not, then run for this hills.

I don't know if he doesn't want to explain any testing if he feels its a waste of his valuable time, but I went through three weeks of testing and he wouldn't explain any of the results to me.He spent a few minutes each appointment time and didn't speak to me and abruptly walks out ,telling me to make another appointment. I have not returned, and think he needs to improve his people skills.

This Dr. was quite personable at my first appointment, but became arrogant and insulting when I asked a clarifying question when I returned to receive test results. He also wanted an unnecessary test and based all of his feedback to me on a test that is of questionable value, according to the most recent clinical research. This guy’s ego gets in the way of appropriate care.
