Dr. David Couillard, MD

Terrible experience. Dr. Couillard was over an hour late, didn't conduct an examination, and veered into unrelated topics. Despite my concerns and provided imaging, he dismissed my issues, implying they shouldn't bother me. Lacked empathy, disregarded my questions, and rushed me out, leaving me frustrated and invalidated. The delayed appointment intensified the negative encounter

The overall staff was friendly, but I encountered some issues during my visit. Without closing the door, he informed me that his operating table had a weight limit of 300 pounds, and due to my weight of 400 pounds, he had reservations about the safety of performing the procedure. I expected such considerations to be communicated before my appointment, possibly during the vitals check. What was particularly distressing was the lack of discretion in discussing this matter. I sought a second opinion from another urologist, who expressed surprise at the weight limit issue, raising questions about communication and professionalism in my initial consultation. Dr. Couillard waived the fees for the physical and consultation, but I felt rushed and dismissed. Additionally, I was directed to leave through the back door, despite having to walk around to the front where my car was parked, which left me feeling discriminated against due to my weight.

Dr Couillard is outstanding unfortunately his staff is lacking in what I would call common courtesy , I have called a number of times to confirm or reschedule an appointment but have not had a return call.

I use this doctor for a procedure I had that required follow up test. The “office manager “ kept insisting that I take a special order number to the lab because the procedure had failed! After FOUR attempts I still have no results! Forget about trying to call this office and have someone answer or give a return call. Save yourself the misery and find another doctor.

Friendly, concerned and explains procedures and options in layman terms

This doctor did not listen to what I had to say, told me my PSA number was worrying but didn't bother to check my prostate, didn't pull records to check my previous PSA values, then handed me a piece of paper and told me where the exit was. I stopped him and asked what the paper was for and he replied that he was going to put a camera in my bladder in three weeks. Uh, no. You're not.

Excellent Doctor. Always makes me feel comfortable and never feel rushed. Explains exactly what he’s doing. Can’t imagine a better doctor.

He is all about making money! Hypocratic oath? Hah, that doesn’t exist! When you look into his eyes you see $dollar signs. He lacks caring and describing his motives for procedures he wants to administer. Be careful not to ask questions that challenge his delicate ego. Avoid this doc at all costs!

My absolute worst experience with a doctor in my life, arrogant, isn't a strong enough word. He is exactly the country club doctor you would see in a movie, played by some sleasbag. To busy and self absorbed to listen to your concerns, so sorry he was the on all doctors at the hospital, after reading his reviews there's no way I would ever choose him as a doctor. To many good, caring one to choose from.

My father was admitted to Mercy San Juan in Carmichael. He was transferred there from Stockton at 3am because Dr. Couillard was the only urologist on call in the area. He came in at 11pm in shorts and stated that he would have surgery the next day. My dad had a fever, elevated BP and pulse, elevated WBC, BUN, and creatinine level with an obstructed ureter. The doctor was short, uninformative, arrogant, and condescending. He wouldn't even let us ask questions, he would cut us off. The day the surgery was suppose to be he called and stated that he wouldn't be coming in due to "logistics". When we asked what the logistics were, he stated he lived in Roseville and it was too far of a drive to Carmichael. 15 minutes was too far for the only urologist on call. I have always been a fan of Dignity Healthcare, but this doctor is making me question my support. I will be contacting the ombudsman and filing a complaint with the Medical Board of California.

This doctor had zero tact. Would not answer questions. Most of the time wouldn't even let me ask questions. Heard him outside the room talking poorly about my family. He talks more than he actually doctors. Very rude and condescending with a god complex. if this is your doctor then RUN!!!

Horrible doctor! He did not take time to listen to me and is very arrogant. First time I was there telling him about an issue that suddenly developed, his advice was essentially to stop drinking liquids, and made it seem ridiculous that I was even drinking lots of water in the first place. Can only attest to the other bad reviews that I'm seeing here. If you're having a serious issue, avoid him at all cost!

I was disappointed in my visit with Dr. Couillard. He was, in my opinion, arrogant and opinionated. I could give specific examples, but I don't want to be specific. There are many good urologists to pick from. My advice is to pick one of those.

Dr. Couillard changed my life. Yes...He's brief, Yes, he's kind of sarcastic....get over it. If you need a doctor to put his arm around you and hold you like a baby, this guy isn't for you. Go find a wooby doctor. If you want the TRUTH, straight at you and without sugar...this is your guy. The guy is a brilliant surgeon that literally changed my life forever for the better. He has trained from the best and my results over the last 13 years have been nothing but remarkable. 2 other urologist tried to solve my problem and failed. For 10 years, I saw a couple different doctors to fix my problem. While in for a vasectomy, I casually mentioned my problem and he instantly said "that's not possible". I was taken aback....I was kind of indignant and said yes..it is. He looked right at me, and said well...when you're ready to fix it...talk to me. I thought about it for over a year before I finally made the appointment. The end result..3 previous failed operations vs 1 successful

Found this man to be someone you can talk to. He is not judgmental, and seems to have seen everything. This guy doesn't wear a doctor coat, he is a man that wants to help. A real man, not some guy who just plays doctor. You can talk to this guy!

Went in for vasectomy and was out in thirty minutes. Nice, professional-- I would recommend him for this procedure.

Was greeted by a very friendly helpful staff immediately. They were helpful courteous kind. Dr couillard entered the examining room the smile on his face ready to go to work. Unfortunately he couldn't do what needed to be done so they scheduled me for early the next day for my testing. He was very eager to speak with my family practitioner on his results. He conducted himself in a very professional manner throughout the visit

Horrible bedside manner and very rude. Can't get through to him when I've had problems after an operation with him. This guy only cares about money. Avoid him at all costs.

Upon meeting me, w/o reading my referral or personal information this Dr. assumed I had incontinence & urgency & told me to quit drinking any liquids during the day, specifically coffee/tea, & not to eat chocolate. He spent 15 mins. of a 20 min. appt. second guessing my former physician concerning my decade old procedure and continued discussion of my personal treatment into the clinic hallway, boasting that his patients received superior care and he couldn't always fix others mistakes.
