Dr. David Chaikin, MD

Dr. Chaikin was highly recommended to me after my Orthopedic Doctor read an MRI on my back and noticed that my bladder was largeley distended. On my first visit with Dr. Chaikin he quickly had tests done on my bladder, prostate and urinary trac. The results confirmed I needed GreenLight Laser Surgery. Dr. Chaikin performed the surgery on January 14, 2025 in Morristown Hospital. All went very well and I was home the same day. My follow up was on January 29, 2025. I am pleased to say that I am experiencing strong and painless urinary flow, no discomfort at all, recovery the next day and no incotinence at all. I consider Dr. Chaikin a game changer. He has professionaly and skillfully changed my life for many years to come!

Chaikin was recommended for a prostate ablation. He patiently and accurately laid out the procedure and the recovery time. Ultimately, I would use him again.

I'm 76 years old and had enlarged prostate and almost total obstruction. After more than 3 years of using catheters Dr. Chaiken recommended and performed Aquablation. I would say that it was a total success. One-year post-op everything is working great. Recovery from the procedure took couple of weeks but the results were striking. Much less trauma than a supra-pubic prostectomy.

Dr CHAIKIN was fantastic. Very accommodating. Successfully performed lipotripsy on me and even squeezed me in for the treatment the day after I saw him for the first time.

This doctor treated my 84 year old father's bladder stone, but then FIRED him as a patient when my dad said he wasn't going to use his medical practice to treat his stage 4 cancer. Dr. Chaikin put in the WRONG SIZE CATHETER during my father's surgery, that's why we had to go back to him afterwards to get the correct size put in. Once he got there, the doctor wanted to know if we were going to use his medical practice to treat his cancer. We explained to him that his office is 45 minutes away from my father's house, where Valley Hospital is less than one mile away, so we would be using Valley to treat the cancer because my father has trouble with long car rides. The doctor then REFUSED to change his catheter, which is what he was there for that appointment to do. And yes, we were still charged for the office visit even though services were not rendered. We are having a difficult time trying to find a urologist who will take him on to fix this doctor's mistake.

After dealing with BPH and side effects of the meds for a decade, I asked Dr. Chaikin for a 'one and done' procedure that would last the rest of my life (70 years old). Aquablation was recommended and performed. While a bit more intense than the gold standard TURP, for me was very effective. Never any real pain but the first 7-10 days following the procedure was not fun. Now 2 months after, I am happy I had it done and am off the BPH meds. Each person will have their own experience and outcome.All my questions were quickly answered. Dr. Chaikin does have the bedside manner typical of a surgeon, which is not a problem for me, but some may find conversations curt.

Dr. Chaiken performed Aquablation surgury on me about 9 months ago. I was 55 years old when he did the procedure on me. He told me that I was an excellent candidate for it and it would go smoothly. He said I would be 'feeling pretty good' after 4 weeks. When, I wasn't getting better after 4 weeks, he said, 'some people get better after four weeks and others need their hands held'. He actually said those exact words to me. A few months ago, I gave up waiting for it to get better on its own. It was actually getting worse. I started seeing a different urologist, one that was recommended by my primary care doctor. It turns out that I now have strictures in my urethra and my prostate is about the same size as it was before the aquablation. Now I am back on medications, and I am weighing scary surgical options to try to reverse the damage that Chaikin did to me. If you are a prospective patient of his, you should really think hard before trusting your health in his hands.

Dr. Chaikin treated my urinary incontinence with the insertion of an AUS. I thought he did an outstanding job. One year later I am free of incontinence. The surgery and aftermath went as well as could be expected. He was honest about shortcomings I might have in the future. Overall I highly recommend him.

Dr. Chaikin performed an aqua ablation on me, before the procedure. He explained all my options very well and help me pick which was best for me. I'm 4 weeks out now and couldn't be happier. Dr Chaikin is extremely rude and dismissive. I came in with pain and he totally dismissed me. A few weeks later my gastroenterologist ran a few tests and the results showed an urological problem I went back to him with those test results and he once again dismissed me and told me that I could live with the pain and that he was not going to treat my condition. He didn’t even want to answer my questions. Run from this dr.

Dr. CHAIKIN has been my urologist for 20 years. He just performed an aquablation procedure on my prostate. It was a complete success!! I recommend Dr. CHAIKIN and his staff without reservation
