Dr. David Buch, MD

My mother is a senior physician who presented with hypertensive emergency. She went to the ED herself to be admitted for full workup as this occurred multiple times over the past month. The ED physician was communicative and explained the situation clearly. Dr Buch came down to the ED and refused to admit my mother going against the ED physician's recommendation and ignoring my mother's complaints that she still felt dizzy and had blurry vision and still had persistent hypertension. I am a physician as well and explained to Dr Buch that she met criteria for admission and that proper workup had not yet been conducted and at the very least observation would be useful in ruling out stroke, cardiovascular, and renal etiologies. Dr Buch stated 'you have a lot to learn about medicine and your mom's fine.' My mom then said no I'm not feeling fine. I then stated we are urging you to admit her. Dr Buch then stated 'that's it, I'm done here, I'mma bounce' and left the room. We're shocked.

Dr Buch was the attending physician for my mom when she was hospitalized with a stroke. I asked if a neurologist can come see my mom not only to investigate her stroke but to also attempt to her Trigeminal nerve pain that bothers her throughout the day. He said, “No neurologist is going to see your mom in her condition.” Then I questioned him why? Then he said, “even if you give a specialist 200million dollars they will not come see your mom.” I was appalled by how this “health professional” handled this situation. He is an insult to the practice.
