Horrible experience
I had surgery with Dr Thakkar to remove my painful hemorrhoids (like we had discussed), instead he removed a blood vessel. After the surgery, I was very confused and upset to find that my hemorrhoids are still there and have now become inflamed during the post-surgery healing process. I now have to restart the entire process and find a surgeon who understands what “hemorrhoidectomy” means.

Dr. Thacker went in for a routine galbladder surgery via my navel using the Davincci Robot. Woke up in recovery and was told the machine broke and he did it via 2 different holes. Was told I could go back to work the next day but felt horrible. Called the nurse 3 days later and said I was getting worse and she said I would be ok. 5 days after surgery I couldn’t walk and was in excruciating pain. Spouse took me to ER and was in the hospital for 5 days! Ended up he didn’t use a clamp and nicked my bile duct, so I had stomach bile freely flowing into my abdomen. Had to have a special stint put in place to stop the leak for a month. Ever since thissurgery I’ve had crazy high elevated liver enzyme panel. Negative hepatitis tests, and had an actual liver biopsy performed showing no liver damage. Points to a new issue with my liver from my botched gallbladder removal! 5 years later I still have bad liver enzymes, will probably get cirrosis, and liver failure at this point!

Post-surgery care was horrible. Incision opened halfway when sutures were removed, and he sent me home without warning that it could open the rest of the way, nor instructions on what to do if it did. As soon as I got home, it did tear open the rest of the way, so I hurried back to the doctor's office (thank God they were still open), and the open wound was packed with gauze. We were instructed to pack it with gauze soaked with Dakins Solution every day. When I returned for follow-up the next week, there was a buildup on the wound, and without warning or even offering anesthetic, Dr. Thakkar took a tool and began scraping it off the raw flesh! It was excruciatingly painful. His nurses were shocked and told us afterwards that the procedure was always done with local anesthetic. The nurses and the interns were kind and thoughtful, but we cannot recommend this doctor.

Terrible post-surgery care, no empathy – May 23, 2021

Dr. Thakkar performed a double mastectomy on me and removed all the cancer. Thank you! However, he did not listen when I said that I did NOT want reconstruction, and left me with loose skin - now I feel deformed not flat.

Doctor Thakkar did hernia surgery on me, and not only did he not notice that the mesh he used was inches away from the surgery site, on the follow-up visit he didn't notice that his surgery did not fix my hernia. Because I still had the bulge, another doctor noticed that I still had the hernia, and I had to have another doctor operate again to fix Thakkar's mistake.

Dr Thakkar is a wonderful surgeon. He saved my life in August of 2017 when I had a perforated colon due to diverticulitis. Then in October of 2017 he performed a colostomy reversal which I had due to the first operation. Now he will be doing a hernia repair. Excellent care and I am very grateful to him for everything.

Dr. Thakkar performed hernia surgery on my husband in 2017. I appreciate that he took time to answer all my questions about after care, never making me feel rushed. He genuinely seem to care about the welfare of my husband and his recovery.
