Gallbladder surgery
When I first met Dr Bertozzi I was impressed with her professionalism. Answered all my questions. After my surgery she saw my husband to let him know how it went. Which was very comforting to him. I had some other issues and had to stay in the hospital for 1 days . She even came to see me when I was being discharged. She definitely has a personal touch which means so much for the average person looking at surgery.

Top Notch Care
I came into Abington Hospital with severe abdominal pain. I needed to have my gallbladder removed and Dr. Bertozzi was the on-call surgeon. She was amazing. She explained the procedure to my husband and I and took the time to answer questions, etc.. surgery went well and I was sent home the next day. I came back a couple of days later to have her check my sutures and she was so professional, taking as much time as we needed with her. I would highly recommend Dr. Bertozzi!

Felt Ignored
Dr Bertozzi spent 5 minutes with me before my surgery, explained a few things, and left. I got the feeling she probably spent that long reading my chart too. I had spent 5 days in the hospital at that point over a holiday weekend. I tried to address my concerns with her, which I felt were ignored. When I tried to tell her about my situation at home, she referred me to other doctors. She is probably a good surgeon but if you have any outside factors that could influence your recovery, or any other concerns that are outside of surgery she has a hard time empathizing or accommodating your needs. I wish she could’ve viewed my needs holistically rather than just her quick judgements as a surgeon.

Dr. BERTOZZI examined my mother Joan, when she was an inpatient at AMH for only a few minutes to order placement of a Choly. tube. Subsequent call asking Dr. BERTOZZI to remove her gall bladder was refused upon the Dr’s brief exam. in patient only and not a current review of her records and condition. 5 other surgeons each pasted her to the next, not refusing, but claiming the next was more experienced or could take my mother sooner. Finally at Jefferson Center City Philadelphia, Dr Francesco Palazzo will be performing the surgery in September, after record review, patient examination, blood work results and cardiologist approval … not a mere phone call prior to her maternity leave commencing. I feel my mom deserved more from Dr. Bertozzi, since she had been her patient in hospital.
