Do not see Dr. Bass
I very much do not recommend Dr. Bass. She was the least helpful doctor I've ever seen. I provided background information on my injury which, after getting second opinions, should have clearly led her to determine the cause of my pain. She instead focused on the wrong joint and refused to even look at the other parts of my body when that didn't explain things. She legitimately said 'I don't know what's wrong with you'. It took about 10 minutes for the PT I saw afterwards to identify the issue which the PT and second opinion doctors described as 'textbook'. She wasted my time and caused me significant distress thinking no one would ever figure out what was wrong with me. Her rates are also extremely high and she charged for a 'long appointment' after making me wait 45 minutes to be seen for a scheduled appointment. Don't go to her.

I saw Dr Bass twice at the orthopedic clinic on Skokie. The first time I came with a him tendon injury. She didn't say anything specific about the injury but looked at me in a very concerned manner and said I had hip arthritis. That got me anxious. My doctor later looked at the xray summary and said it was something very mild and that I shouldn't worry about it. When I saw dr Bass for a follow up, she was in a hurry and spent about 5 min with me. When I asked her about the disconnect between her reaction to my xray and my doctor's, she looked a bit lost for a sec and then said, 'well, it was a mild condition, as far as I remember'. Why had she presented this info to me in such a concerned manner, and triggered anxiety and a consultation with my doctor? The second visit was a waste of my time. She recommended PT. I had already started PT since that was the obvious step. When I asked her about pain in my knee, she said I would need to come back for a separate visit.

Dr. Bass works in urgent orthopedic care but she is not an orthopedic doctor. Waisted my time with her. She just popped the bad news about my knee saying wrongly that no one will do surgery but 1 doctor. She was trying to convince me to go for physical therapy and steroid shots which is in her ability to help with. When I doubt about it she just rudely left without saying good buy and not allowing me to ask questions. I asked her assistant all questions I had. She was very friendly and explained me everything.

Dr. Bass and her team are very friendly and likeable. I am posting this low review because I would not recommend her for foot injuries, and was overall disappointed in the lack of specific help and guidance I received from her, over the course of seeing her for a few months for a foot injury. She recommended I wear insoles to help my feet, but didn't give any specifics on what kind of insoles would be best (gave a brand, but there are so many types within brands), even after I asked for more clarity. Then, after diagnosing me with arthritis, the only thing she told me to do was to figure out how to manage the pain, to come back if it got worse. Having now seen a podiatrist, I've realized that there was much more she could have done, as the podiatrist has done more to help, without ever looking at an x ray or MRI (both of which Dr. Bass took). At the very least, she could have referred me out if this was truly out of her area of expertise.
