Great Experience
Super personable, listened to my concerns and offered options. I chose to do physical therapy and injections first but they didnt help. I went back and had surgery and so glad I did. I have been fine ever since. His staff is caring and helpful.

I absolutely love Dr. Wecht. I had a microdiscectomy done in December 2022. Dr. Wecht was thorough and very detailed in explaining exactly what he would be doing. He definitely put ease to my anxiety. I absolutely adore his staff. Everyone was extremely polite and courteous. It was a no brainer when I began to experience the same pain on the left side to return to Dr. Wecht. As I expected I again needed the same procedure done in September of 2023. Undergoing the experience again, I felt fully confident that Dr Wecht would get the job done. I would highly recommend Dr. Wecht to anyone and everyone!

Last visit, told me it was time for surgery since nothing else is working. Ordered a MRI and ultrasound to see how much bone had grown around the plate he inserted prior. This was to determine if he had to remove the plate or not. Insisted I got the tests through UPMC so he could examine the results immediately. I had to take off work for the tests because they did not have evening hours. Two weeks went by and never heard from him. I called twice! Finally got his nurse and said he would call me back later in the day after she pulled up the results. No call. I called the next day. No return call. Got home and message on my machine from his nurse. Tried calling back. No answer! Finally she called me the next day and stated she did not have my cell phone number, but she called it 2 days prior. Then she said, I have moderate foraminal stenosis where the bone is pressing on my nerves. Doc says no surgery needed!!!! I am in aughhhhhh!!!!!!! I am in severe pain that makes my BP high!!

In 2014, Dr. Wecht perform herniated disc surgery on my back which was a hugh success . However this past year, I reinjured my back, went back to Dr. Wecht for treatment. He was kind, considerate & thoroughly explained the procedure he was going to perform. After the operation , I. Felt like a new person - my pain was minimal. I knew , as my experience before, that Dr. Wecht was the best surgeon ever! I speak very highly of him & would recommend to my family & friends.

I saw Dr. Wecht after herniating my L5-S1 disc. He got straight to the point and I was in surgery days later. He is a great surgeon, but I can see where some people are frustrated in their comments. Having chronic lumbar disc issues, there isn’t a whole lot he can do for me aside from surgery or recommending PT. He has to walk a fine line when deciding if an invasive procedure is worth the risk when dealing with the spinal cord. He does need to work on his people skills, but most doctors do so..

The PA asked all the questions. The Dr came in, didn't even shake my hand, told me to lose weight, stop smoking, and go to physical therapy because I was out if shape, The Dr is short and pudgy! The PA called a week later and was very rude because I didn't start PT yet or quit smoking. Thankfully I got a second opinion and that surgeon took me off work immediately because I was in severe pain. He did surgery because I had a ruptured disc and pieces of it were laying on the nerve.

When you are referred to him after an MRI shows 3 herniated discs and one ventrally ruptured, and your arm is weak, grip strength is weak, and he refers you to PT and his staff tells you he's going on Christmas vacation...that's a red flag. Another flag? No neuro exam. And when you fail PT, continue to have gait disturbance, pain, and vertigo with nausea when your turn your head, and this MD is two hours late for your appointment, and blows you off with a referral to Pain Clinic? RED FLAG MD

My experience was awful. 1 1/2 hour wait time. Doctor spent 30 seconds with me. Physicians assistant on a phone call afterward was rude, uncaring and unprofessional. Waste of my time.
