Grateful for Dr. Saltzstein
I have been a patient of Dr. Saltzstein for at least 15 or more years. He is absolutely one of the best Doctors I have ever seen, and I was not an easy patient. I have a rare type of kidney stone and he has performed many ESWLs and PCNLs on me. He took time to research my condition, talked to me about each procedure and reassured my parents and husband after each surgery. and took a lot of time to try to teach me how to be stone free. He has seen me through a lot of procedures and was always astounded at the size of stones I could pass. When I say I was not an easy patient, I mean I was not often compliant in taking my medication and drinking enough water. Dr. Saltzstein was always patient with me and never judgmental. There are not enough Thank You's I could give to him and his staff.

I am also a healthcare provider-Psychologist. My first appointment with Dr. Saltzstein went OK. He was aloof, but that didn’t bother me. He referred me to an imaging center for a PET scan which I did. After three weeks I had no word from him for a follow up, despite numerous calls to his office with extended wait times of a half hour or more. Finally, his office manager called me to inform me that the doctor was on vacation, the office was “in shambles” because the former manager had left abruptly, and that he would see me when he returned. I informed her that I found that to be unsatisfactory, and a few days later a nurse practitioner called me to give me a cursory report on the scan. My condition is real and potentially life-threatening. Certainly, a provider deserves to go on vacation, but he should’ve left someone in his group to attend to my needs, which he did not. I find Dr. Saltzstein to be irresponsible and disinterested in providing adequate healthcare. I am done with him

I am also a healthcare provider-psychologist. My first appointment with him went OK, and he referred me to an imaging center for a P.E.T. scan. After the scan, I had no contact with him for three weeks, despite numerous calls to his office, and extensive hold times on the phone. Finally, his office manager called me back and informed me that Dr Saltzstein was on vacation, and that the office was “in shambles” because the former office manager had left abruptly. He had made no arrangements for anyone else in the group to attend to my questions about a serious, perhaps terminal condition. I certainly understand that a professional deserves to go on vacation, but in a case like mine, he should have arranged for backup coverage. I finally spoke last week to a nurse practitioner, Emily, who gave me a very cursory report on my PET scan. I am not interested in this kind of professional care, and believe Dr Saltzstein to be irresponsible and disinterested in providing good healthcare.

Left my dad in pain.
Surgery was terrible went from 7mm to 4mm thinking that it would pass through for my dad. We needed to go to another hospital and get another surgery m, they tried to remove the stone but the kidney was to swollen. We are very upset with this, you’re a doctor who is supposed to help with your patients health, not make it worse.

Worst bedside manners. Rude and unprofessional. Went with another doctor in the same practice with a much better experience.

Service has deteriorated Dr. Saltzstein used to be very thorough but since they moved to the new location, that has diminished. He no longer discusses my situation. Just keep giving me pills. Since moving, the office is the worst that I have dealt with. Rx refill requests do not get filled, no return phone calls, lost appointments.

As stated above he is not interested in listening to patient comments. He is condescending and rude. At the end of the appointment he instructed me to bring my wife to all future appointments because she would listen better. His staff is also non-responsive. They do not return patient calls and are not helpful when you can get them on the phone. Frankly Salzstein is the worst Dr I’ve ever encountered.

Dr. Saltzstein is a very professional and personable doctor. He was very thorough in his exam, updated my x-ray of the kidney and talked in length about what procedure could be done and how it was done. He had concerns about my current heart lung problems and asked me to get approval for this procedure from them. Very nice and friendly doctor that knows his stuff. Highly recommend him.

He was referred as a surgeon by another urologist in his group. He dismissed the urgency of my condition-three 3cm stones in left kidney with reduced function. Took 3 months to get surgery-he was only able to partially remove one of the stones due to the complexity of my kidney-kidney started to function again causing it to dump electrolytes which caused an ileus which caused extreme gas and bloating and he left me this way for five days denying it was related to the surgery. He doesn’t listen.

Don't bother. Does nothing and doesn't even have the courtesy to notify patient or pre-op staff when running hours late. Unprofessional.
