Strange Experience
I am 60+ female. Saw him after an MRI for a meniscus tear. The appointment was odd. He started by saying I need a total knee replacement, and then said, "I'm not going to harp on this, but you'd need to drop 50lbs. before surgery." And then he went on to harp about it, saying, 1. he had never seen a knee as big as mine (which I thought was kind of strange since 50lbs is really not THAT much); 2. he would "never touch" me for surgery the way I am now; 3. "no one will touch" me for surgery; 3. he pulled up his pants leg to show me what a lean leg looks like; 4. told me it's really too bad I carry my weight below the waist. He seemed angry and impatient (sorry for the pun), and I got out of there pretty quick. He may be a great surgeon, but he was not a very nice person when he saw me.

Demeaning attitude
I am 65+ yrs old and saw him for carpal tunnel. He may be a great doctor but I will not go back. Everything he said about about my build was accurate but said in an awful, shaming manner. He said not that I would even know what BMI was but I would need to lose 75+ lbs. for knee surgery, he understood the farm girl mentality and eating a big breakfast but that my thigh was huge, that I should have a breast reduction and that would take care of at least 10 lbs. I needed too lose. All for a carpal tunnel office visit. He is correct - I am overweight. But if he looked at my medical history he would have seen my weight gain started post thyroid cancer surgery. The gland was removed and I'm on hormone replacement therapy. I have never lived in a farm and have been hypo and hyperthyroid since surgery. I left the office feeling ashamed and embarrassed and will never go back.

Dr. Metz performed Carpal Tunnel/Ulnar Nerve surgeries on both arms, and a trigger thumb. All surgeries were diagnosed correctly and surgeries performed successful and without difficulty. He explained everything before hand... : ) issues with the procedures and expectations, I found him very proficient in his field, will be scheduling shoulder surgery (Bone spur and torn Rotator Cuff this fall. His bedside manner, the nurses and Ross Ficarri were all very professional...I trust this team!

I was seen by doctor Metz because I was dealing with some fluid / inflammation in my knee. He was so kind, listened to what I had to say, and overall a good guy! He called me to make sure I was doing fine after my appointment he also called with my Test results ( which I thought that was generous of him) I recommend Dr. Metz 100%!! Bed side manner on point!

Dr Metz has scoped and replaced both of my knees. He is very knowledgeable, compassionate and personable. All of my procedures were completed without complications. He makes a point to get to know his patient, therefore he can talk to them and ask pertinent questions. I would recommend him to all my friends and family.
