Excellent Understanding Surgeon
I have seen Dr. Elskens on two different occasions. Once for my neck and once for my back. Both times I was in horrible debilitating pain. MRI studies had been sent from my primary care doctor. I was convinced I would need surgery. Dr. Elskens spent a long time with me reviewing my MRI explaining why I was having pain but that my problem did not require surgery. He ordered physical therapy and put me on anti inflammatory medications. His more conservative approach helped me avoid surgery where I feel another surgeon may have been quick to operate. He also shared a healthy back book with great exercises I still use today. I had modifications made to my desk and chair at work all of this really helped my issue. I have since referred friends to see him. Several have had surgery both had great experience and positive surgical outcomes. I highly recommend Dr. Elskens as in my experience he truly cares about his patients.

Dr. Elskens was not positive and encouraging when explaining the results of a recent back procedure. He may be a good surgeon but he was negative.

Ii have had great luck with my spine as back years ago Dr Elskens told me there’s no way that he could promise me a good outcome and in his opinion I should try everything else first then if I wasn’t any better come back to see him and now years later I am having some issues so I am getting my MRI and going back to Dr D. P.Elskens as I respect and trust his opinion and he could of just did surgery and got big money for doing it but he said I am a surgeon but I cannot I’m good faith do surgery on you as I believe that this will settle down and as you would need major surgery and there’s no guarantees so if you were my own family member that’s what I’d suggest and it was great it’s been years but now I don’t know so DrD.P.Elskens I wanna get an appointment to see you as soon as I have my MRI in hand hopefully you are doing well thanks Dorothy S

My experience with Dr. Elskens is the best . He was very through and took the time to explain the surgery. Before and after the surgery. He treated me with absolute professionalism. He explained what to expect and his follow up care is impeccable. His staff is helpful and knowledgeable. And they are very friendly and respectful. Dr. Elskens does not make you feel like you don't matter or feel rushed. I would highly recommend him, he is honest and gives you your options.

I would highly recommend Dr. Elskens. He explained my back condition in terms I could understand and used evidenced-based criteria. His actions allowed me to make an informed decision about my back health, specifically as to whether to have back surgery.

He saw me right away, even though another doctor did my surgery AND I live in another state. He called in his rep to check my implant (versus saying I needed a replacement right away). After hours of try to reprogram did not work, he scheduled my surgery for the following week, the week of Thanksgiving! He is nice but very much to the point and did an excellent job. This implant is the only one I have not had problems with. I would highly recommend him. Also, Diane, his nurse, is excellent.

About Me

care philosophy

I have always strived to treat patients the way I want my family treated. Obviously, I am a surgeon, so spend most of my time evaluating surgical solutions for patients, but I recognize most patients do not need surgery. They need a direction for treatment and understanding about their problem.
