Awful experience
Echoing all the other comments that he is shockingly condescending with zero bedside manner. He told me I didn’t have a diagnosis I do have, then found the record of it in the system and didn’t even apologize. Rude, interrupted me and talked down to me. Literally told me my body would “decay”! Never going back!

Horrible experience
Worst experience I’ve had with a healthcare provider. Extremely condescending and unprofessional. Instead of providing knowledge, he dismissed, judged, and mocked my concerns.I read the poor reviews online and still kept my appointment as I wanted to give him the benefit of the doubt. I wished I had listened and canceled. Please don’t waste your time.

Super condescending and rude. Would never go back. Doesn't know rudimentary facts about women's hormones. How did this man even get a medical license?

Do not see this man
Putting one star because zero isn’t an option. Extremely condescending and dismissive. Spoke to me like I was a child and was extremely unhelpful. I went with concerns about my thyroid numbers and he told me they were “perfect” (when they have been under the threshold number for being okay.) I asked him why I am so tired all the time then, and he said he doesn’t know, he can only help with thyroid issues. He then tried to blame my issues on depression and told me that I need a therapist. So he’s not an endocrinologist but is now a psychiatrist?? Complete waste of time. DO NOT SEE THIS MAN.

A Brutal Visit
My diabetes was uncontrolled after cancer surgery so I was referred to Dr. Castillo for an emergency appointment. He was incredibly rude and condescending. He takes advantage of the power imbalance between doctor and patient to be borderline sadistic. This was extremely surprising as my experience with NYU Langone doctors had been very good up to this point. I thought that maybe he was having a bad day but as you read through the reviews, it seems that Dr. Castillo has many bad days. I can't imagine why he is a doctor.

Horrible visit
My regular Dr. Is out for a while and I scheduled an appointment with Dr. Daniel Cadena- Castillo because I’m starting a new job and needed 90 day scripts. As soon as he entered the room he spoke to me as if I was 5 yrs old telling me that I over eat and this is why I’m not losing weight. He continued to say my symptoms of being nauseous and no weight loss are not adding up. We went back and forth with him scolding me about whether or not I’m over eating. He was rude, obnoxious and really didn’t want to hear what I had to say. I told him his delivery was awful. He turned to me and said he is here to educate me and if it’s my time to receive this information then this is what it is. We wrapped up the appointment and I left feeling confused about what I just experienced. I will never schedule an appointment again with him and I do not recommend him. I understand not all doctors are warm and fuzzy but at least get to know the patient and build rapport before tearing them apart.

Friendly and knowledgeable. Great Doctor
Dr Cadena Castillo is a great doctor. I am honestly surprised to find that he had some negative reviews. I find him very pleasant and friendly. He clearly knows his field and always explains things to me thoroughly, taking his time to answer questions. He has always been available to me through the patient portal as needed and responds in a timely manner under more urgent circumstances if you give him a call.

I could give zero stars but I’ll grant him one for effort. I was scolded by him before I entered the room. I felt like I was on trial when he sat me down and interrogated me about my symptoms. The verdict was that I was making an incorrect connection between my PMDD and my hormones. He needed me to clarify what I was referring to and also admonished me for repeating myself or leaving things out. “The doctor who did these tests did an incredible job” he said, in reference to my blood work. As if I had undermined them by wanting to understand what the results meant. I was completely at odds with the whole experience even though he seemed to calm down suddenly and shift from being a contrarian to being friendly without provocation. I don’t know why he looked at my ankles for cuts or asked to see my belly? Super uncomfortable all around.

If you ask a question, he will snap at you like an angry dog. Saw him at NYU 3 x's. When I tried to give him some information he said "I'm driving this visit"... Found him confusing. Gives a lot of info but explains it is heavy terminology making it virtually impossible to understand. On one visit he prescribed a dose of calcium for me to take for 2 weeks, and then told me to discontinue it. At the follow up visit scolded me for stopping the calcium, though he told me to stop after 2 weeks. Ordered a lot of lab tests, that's OK, but he ordered a 24 hour urine test which I never did and at the follow up visit, he never questioned me as to why I did not do that test. He made no mention of the test at all. I would not recommend him at all.

The most obnoxious individual I have ever met. He does not listen to the patient thinks his only so called medical advice is what matters. You sit there like a five year old because that what he makes you feel as though a child with no knowledge of yourself. Plus, he gives you the wrong prescriptions and makes you feel bad about it. Never again, will I consider giving this individual the opportunity to practice medicine on me. Spare yourselves the aggravation and being belittled.

I will preface this review by saying that I grew up around many doctors, and I worked at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital. I have seen many physicians in my time. Few of them rank as low as "Dr." Castillo. I desperately went to Mr. Castillo seeking help for what has been a terrible struggle with lethargy, hypoglycemia, weight gain and brain fog. I carefully explained my symptoms to Mr. Castillo. A person in the field on endocrinology should know that people who experience what I experience are probably at the end of their rope, totally defeated and mystified by their symptoms. Instead of showing compassion and understanding he launched into a tirade about how I eat too much, how I cannot eat fruit anymore, that I must learn to love tofu. "Show me your belly!" he said, as if that will help with a diagnosis! He said I am not hypoglycemic, even though I have been my whole life. He offered no solutions except "see a nutritionist". Castillo is a disgrace and should be removed.

I had a horrible experience with Dr.Castillo. I am a type one diabetic who requires not only many prescriptions but durable medical supplies. My glucose sensor and diabetic test strips were not filled for nearly two months. I called the clinic, my insurance, and pharmacy to find out that the hold up was my "doctor" only sending the prior auth for the meter with no strip refills.... a very junior error. My A1C blood test results are 5.9 which he didn't even so much as mention.

I was a patient of dr Caden’s until last august. I was very upset when he left prescott Valley with almost no notice. I have been unable to locate another endocrinologist in my area and spent several days in hospital within the last two weeks with diabetic keto acidosis and acute renal failure. I believe this could have been avoided if he could have left with a little more info than leaving me with a nurse practitioner who didn’t do more than one A1c in the past year.

Dr Castillo Cadena is now practicing at NYU in New York. I have had great experience with all NYU doctors, have not always agreed with all, until today. My visit with Dr Castillo Cadena was really uncomfortable. I have hypothyroidism, have been diagnosed and under the care of another doctor who sold her practice, and I figured I’ll give this guy a chance since I like the other doctors in the same office. Mr Castillo Cadena only looks at the THS number. No T3, T4 or other hormone levels. Not interested in hearing any symptoms I am experiencing and basically raising his voice at me and telling me I am full of crap. Not interested in hearing about direct family history with thyroid issue either. I will stay away from this doctor going forward, and will write a complaint letter to NYU as well. Do not recommend.

He was incredibly impatient. Made me feel like there were 20 people waiting for him when no one was. Made me feel stupid for asking questions about my body and the medication he put me on. His responses were short and rude. One of the least empathetic doctors I’ve ever met. How he’s still in business is beyond me.

So happy to hear that Dr. Cadena is out of business in the Prescott area. I was diagnosed with Hashimoto's Thyroiditis in 1989 and have been very ill lately because my TSH levels can't be regulated. This causes anxiety and vision problems to say the very least. I have been in the ER and 3 weeks ago in a 'crisis intervention' unit for anxiety from very high TSH levels. I saw Dr. Cadena when I was at a very weakened state both mentally and physically. I had my TPO tested, which is an indicator of Hashimotos. I had never heard of TPO before when Dr. Cadena asked me... in an angry voice, "What are you trying to pull".... I asked what he meant and he told me that my TPO was negative.... that I was lying about Hashimotos. I won't tell you what I said to him when I stood up.... I never went back. He is no longer in business!!!
