Dr. Rice asked me why I was there after I had seen a NP at a hospital. The NP had discussed my situation with Dr. Rice.

This doctor is very dismissive and will argue with you . I had a kidney stone removed and needed to go back to the ER after. The pain, the fear, questions unanswered. She refused to see me for a follow-up. Needed to find a new doctor. Please save yourself agony and go elsewhere. My new doctor was shocked at what happened and you will be too if you trust your body to this monster.

Top Notch
I'm a long time stone patient. Dr. Rice recently performed two surgical procedures on me. I could not have asked for more in terms of professionalism, competence, obvious caring about my well being and that I was fully informed. I could not recommend Dr. Rice more strongly. She took the time to answer every question and address every concern both I and my wife had.

Dismissive, condescending, & uninformative
My husband was treated like a specimen, not a person. Pre-op questions were dismissed with “We’ll talk about it later”. The extent and consequences of surgery were not disclosed; the first question we asked got a “Have to go!” as she ran out the door. My husband was alone and drugged when they had him sign his life away to surgery. I foolishly thought I could trust Dr Rice to do what was best for her patient. We are in shock at the extent and irreversible results. When we repeatedly asked for help, we were told questions would be answered at the post-surgery appointment. That took 2 months to get. We got a cranky “I don’t know why you’re bothering me”, followed by her bragging about how she removed a young man’s cancer-free prostrate so he could quickly get a kidney transplant (spoiler alert, that’s not how it works.) The same unanswered questions were met with another “We’ll talk about it later”. They were only answered when we switched doctors.

Got it Wrong
Went in with a weird presentation of kidney pain, she ordered one test and when it was negative told me to go back to my primary. I asked if it was possibly a hard to diagnose infection, she said no. I’ll give you one guess as to what it was.

Disappointing doctor
Incredibly disinterested in patient care, rarely available, even in potentially emergency cases. It literally takes weeks even to have a question answered by phone and if you hear back, her response generally does not acknowledge your concerns including any tests results you may have called about. I suspect because she cannot bill Medicare for that time. She provides zero comfort that your issues are being reviewed and assessed by her. She ignores patients when they need help the most, pushing you off on her very unhelpful staff. Generally unwilling and unavailable to review urology related test results, she seems financially driven with little regard for the concerns of her patients. Several others have shared similar opinions with us. Go to urgent care instead, better care.

As an adult male, I, REGRETFULLY, entrusted her to performed my circumcision. She did a horrible job, and mocked with another physician when I sought treatment at the emergency room following complications. BE WARNED: Stay Away — ESPECIALLY if you are a “man of color.” — I would give her ZERO STARS if only that were an option...

Very selfish and more towards making money than helping her patients. She believes in money first and honey later. Her receptionist is very rude, speaks bad English and very disrespectful. Dr. Rice does not care about patients seriousness and more worried about receiving her money. Very greedy , I will never take a chance with her.

My 90+ yr old mother, who is stroke paralyzed, ended up in ER with kidney stone blockage and infection. Urologist Dr. Dana Rice was assigned to her case. Dr. Rice is all kinds of wonderful!!! Skilled. Competent. Patient, warm and kind. Reassuring bedside manner. She makes you feel both safe and comfortable under her excellent care. If you’re ever in Fairfax Hospital with urology problems, Dr Rice is the one you want on your medical team!

Dr. Rice is extremely personal and appears to be competent. Her office staff is another matter. I've sat in the waiting room (waiting for my husband) approximately 5 hours over 3 appointments, each time I've witnessed the staff being extremely short tempered with patients to the point of eye-rolling. 2x the staff had NOT responded to our insurance company concerning medicaltion refills.
