Do not go to Dr. Doute
My son was referred to Dr. Doute after going to the ER for a fractured ankle. It was clear upon entering his office, there was something wrong -- no techs, no nurses, no professional receptionist. After Dr. Doute's arrogant and condenscening behavior he told us he was closing his practice the end of the month but could still do teh surgery because he 'is the best.' My son clearly needed an experience surgeon with follow up long-term. He collected his co-payment of course, took new X-rays (more $$). We wasted time and money, my son was in agony and needed surgery asap. I blame Northside Hospital for referring my son to a spine doctor who was closing his practice instead of a well-known and reputable practice with foot and ankle specialists.

Rude doctor/Mad doctor
Dr. Doute initially saw me and indicated my pain was coming from problems in my neck, and sent me for MRI for my neck instead of my right shoulder/arm. Follow-up visit was terrible. He asked me what did I think he would be saying to me. I indicated maybe he will give me a shot for pain or maybe surgery. He stated, he will need to do surgery on my C5 disk in my neck. Then he went on to say “you people want him to tell us what he think, but we didn’t want him to touch them with during surgery-Wow, I was totally out done, because he thought it was okay to call me you people. I responded that I was not a you people, and express to him my proper name. Afterward he stated if I come back again he will be doing surgery on my neck. I immediately knew God was telling me never to go to this rude, uncaring, arrogant doctor again. I went to see another orthopedic, and per MRI I needed rotator cuff surgery. In 65 years this was a horrible experience for me.

Dr. Doute was the on call physician when I was admitted with fracture pubis ramus. He recommended I be discharged with a walker when I could not even stand up (sent my x-ray versus examination). After nursing etc. trying to get in touch with him (numerous times Saturday & Sunday), he did not return calls and showed up Sunday night. ( I had been in since Saturday afternoon). I found him to be arrogant, rude and said inappropriate remarks to me. I informed nursing that he was not to see me again! He showed up Tuesday evening and had the same attitude with my husband. He took a call when in the room and was rude to the caller. Run from this guy! Northside should be embarrassed!

Poor post op care. Has no after hours answering service so difficult to get care once office closes and on weekends. Poor bedside manner. Office very sparse, has no exam gowns or sheets to cover patients with during exams. Will not prescribe any medicines prior to surgery, such as needed muscle relaxers. Very blunt when talking to patients, shows no compassion. Lack of post op attention led to post op wound infection requiring surgery a couple of weeks post op after two Emergency visits. Refused to order home visit nurse to help family member take care of post op wound showing signs of infection.

I have never had such a bad experience with a Dr before. He scolded me for not bringing an MRI disk, which I had never been told to bring. I brought the paper version instead. He was able to pull up my MRI through the paper so him getting upset with me over it was for nothing. I was told if I had better insurance I could get the surgery for my back but since I only have Medicaid I’d be lucky to get Physical therapy, but he doesn’t think physical therapy will do much. I left stressed out, with no answers or hope about my back getting fixed. It took everything in me not to start crying then and there. If I could give no stars I would.

I really like Dr. Doute. He operated on my husband and it was a complete success. Dr. Doute is a true professional. He is a no-nonsense, straightforward, shoot from the hip sort of guy. He explains to you and gives you the final say. I respect that type of bedside manner.

Dr. Doute has poor communications skills and an ill equipped office. Plus there are long waits and he neglected to take care of my ankle during surgery to the point where I found myself back in the emergency room within 3 weeks.

my last visit ended with my feeling belittled and insulted after I told him my pain level has increased, he's heartless and told me there's nothing that I can do for you. My left arm is numb after surgery, prior to surgery I only had some tingling in my fingers and I believed in him and allowed the surgery. My whole lifestyle has changed, I blame myself everyday by allowing him to perform surgery on me. The surgery was very unsuccessful and for lack of better term was a waste of my Insurance paid money.

WAITED FOREVER – Mar 10, 2020

I am a professional. I chose Dr. Doute to help diagnose and possibly treat my disc degeneration of C1-C7. My first time in his office ended with my feeling belittled and insulted. After becoming aware of my medical background he told me I should understand what he's talking about. I mentioned how much pain I was in and that comment was ignored. My second visit to discuss the results of my MRI went the same way. His blunt responses didn't bother me. What did bother me is he continued to ignore my pain. He said there was nothing could be done. As a hospice nurse, the first thing I attend to is a patient's pain. Once comfortable I can then move forth to do further assessments and treatments. To allow someone to be in pain at a 9 on the pain scale is unforgivable. I found him arrogant with no compassion whatsoever. I would never see him again, and I will share that with anyone. His office staff are gentle, soft spoken and caring.

If you want your diagnosis/ prognosis sugar coated, don't go to Dr. Doutè. He will give you the straight answers you need to hear, as well as keep you entertained. Love him! He did my spinal surgery and his care and follow ups have been great. Be patient though. You may have to wait a while in office as he gives all his patients the time and attention they need at each appointment.

This office is so unprofessional. The doctor threw his pen because I informed them that I had to go to work after I was put in a room for 1 hour and a half with no-one coming to tell me anything. I asked if the doctor could call me with my results and was told no, mind you that the doctor was sitting right there but treated me like I was not there. He got up from the seat and walked right pass me and the receptionist said she can reschedule me. I was in this office from 11am - 12:45pm.

Lowest level of patient care I have ever received. Doctor's visits with him were a complete waste of time and money. He made alot of excuses about "what he was setup up to do". Sent me to multiple MRIs and his "designated" vendor even though I told him that prior to one of my operations the MRI showed nothing. Brought him X-rays, MRIs and examines from multiple Doctors as well as post operative reports yet he waste my time talking about the MRI he ordered. I would not recommend him to anyone!
