Awkward appointment
First mtg with Dr Woo for a prenatal visit at PAMF. She appeared uncomfortable, smiled or laughed at random moments, didn’t explain what the purpose or plan for the visit was and instead asked a number of irrelevant probing questions that had nothing to do with pregnancy. We were clearly uncomfortable answering her Qs and her EQ was so low she kept going then laughed awkwardly, checked fetal heartbeat said “ you’ll likely be induced at week 39” (I’m at Wk 14 with a long way to go!) then said have a nice day and left. Strongly considering moving care to a different hospital as others have noted in their reviews to avoid her delivering our baby when the stakes are higher than a routine prenatal appt. We’ve otherwise been really happy with care at Sutter and the other providers. This visit was a strong opposite to our visit with Odiri Maku!

I made an appt because I was pregnant and had been sick with a really bad flu for about 5 days. I had a bad feeling that this had jeopardized my pregnancy and made an appt to see the doctor, even though I had an appt with the NP the following week. Cynthia did an U/S and said there was no heartbeat. I said that I had called to come in to be seen this week because I was concerned and didn't want to wait until next weeks appt. She suggested that my dates might be incorrect and that's why there's no heartbeat, but I should come next week for my appointment to follow up. I am a nurse and I knew from the way she was presenting the information she was not being honest. I knew that my dates were not wrong but I glanced down anyway to look at my calendar and realized in that moment I'd lost my baby. When I looked up Cynthia was leaving, standing with the door open and she then realized that I knew, and she had to react. She gave me that empathetic look while standing with the door wide open.
