Dr. Curtis Story Jr, MD

While my 88-year-old mother -- an established patient of Dr. Story -- was visiting me in Texas, her blood pressure went up extremely high, despite taking her usual BP meds. She called Dr. S's office and left a detailed message, requesting a call back right away. 24 hours later, nobody had called, and her BP was still sky-high, so I took her to the ER, where we spent 7 hours while the ER doc tried various interventions to get her BP back down to a survivable level. I called Dr. S's office and spoke to his office mgr., giving her details about what had transpired, and expressing my displeasure that he had not returned mom's call. She was very apologetic, assured me this would never happen again, and said that she would call me back around noon to schedule a time when Dr. S. would call me to discuss mom's condition. That was Monday morning. It is now late Wed. afternoon and I'm still waiting for that call back. I would not send a cat or my ex-husband here, based on this experience.

He listens, teaches and doesn't rush thru the appointment. I am much healthier too!

Never returns phone calls. Tried for 2 months to get an appointment or somebody to call me. Never happened

DR Story has been a wonderful physician. He listens well and makes sure that you understandany issues and explains all of the options available.

When I moved to Charlotte Harbor in 2017 I needed a primary care physician. I looked over several area Physicians and selected Dr. Story's office on a trail basis. He always allows time for any subject that I may want to discuss and is very attentive to my needs. I just hope he stays active as long as I am around.

I went to Dr. Story when I was bitten by a dog. I was given a tetanus shot which was necessary. I was sent several bills for this visit. I spoke to Medicare and was told that it was covered under Medicare Part B because it was medically necessary since I was bitten by a dog. I sent Dr. Story's office an email and asked them to resubmit the bill with the correct diagnosis code. Dr. Story even called me and told me that it wasn't covered and I needed to pay the bill of $92.18 which I paid immediately. He told me that he would give me the documentation if I wanted to resubmit the bill. That hasn't happened even after two written letters to his office. I don't understand since it was such a simple thing to do!!! So beware if you have an insurance problem!!

Board Certified, Dr Curtis Story was my fourth try to find a physician since I moved to North Port in 2017. The staff was attentive, and the doctor was of the caliber I've come to expect after 25 years with Dr Ted Kubicki of Va Beach, VA.

I have been a patient of Dr. Story since relocating here two years ago. I am very impressed with his service. His office is upscale, relaxed, and located in a quiet area of Port Charlotte with plenty of nearby parking. I never feel rushed when visiting him. He takes the time to thoroughly answer all of my questions with well thought out responses. He has provided me with excellent referrals for specialties outside of his family medicine practice. Visiting his office is a positive experience.

I have been with Dr. Story for over 7 years, and I cannot recommend him highly enough. He always spends plenty of time with me and explains complicated things in a way that I can understand them. He never seems rushed or unconcerned. Dr. Story is intelligent and very compassionate, and makes me feel like a family friend. The office is very nice and I love the fish tank and atmosphere. The nurse Raquel is wonderful.

Best doctor I have ever SEEN! I am very picky about who choose for my healthcare. I was not looking for someone to give me the answers I needed and he even caught some new problems. But he took more than an hour with me and addressed all my concerns and gave me good advice. I'm a little over weight and now Ive lost weight and feel healthier. His staff were all very sweet and caring. Thanks Dr. Story!!!!

Very good doctor, listens, takes his time and he fixed me

When I first went to Dr. Story, I really liked him and thought he would manage my health care appropriately. However, after going to the emergency room one weekend for extremely high blood pressure, he informed me that salt does not affect blood pressure, which goes against all medical research and info. I have not been back since and lost all faith in his ability to oversee my healthcare.

Something went wrong and the care here has gone down the drain. If you have a problem that can't be answered with one of his neat little text book answers then it is YOUR fault. I ended up researching my problem and found the problem which was one of my meds. He dropped the ball due to his arrogance. Run fast. Run far.

I have been seeing Dr Story over a year . Had 7 appointments , always had 50 minutes to a hour wait. I have no problem waiting a half hour but every time I been there the quickest I saw him is 50 minutes. The office staff will not return calls about about CT scan, had to call them 3 time finally 3 days later I call them and told me results. Later saw Dr told me he was going to give me a referral to see another doctor this was on a Monday next week called up Dr Story still not done.

Vindictive doctor. God help you if you question his judgement. Nurses have said "you have to know how to handle his ego".

I have left Dr. Story after being with him from when he with Millenium & following him into private practice. I thought he was an intelligent & caring doctor,until it got to the point when I had an appointment, I would be called to exam room on time & sit there for 2or more hours. I am not talking just once in awhile, but every appointment. Final straw was an appt. at 1:45 & I finally left @ 4:50 & was sent a bill for missing my appt. I refused to pay & found a new doctor.

I saw him for a health physical and he came in the room and before starting the exam, he sat down and really paid attention to me. He wasn't in a rush apparently. I have been to doctors that haven't helped me, but he did! After almost 25 years fighting depression, now I'm doing great. Because someone sat and listened.

After a poor experience with a corporate practice, I found Dr. Story who was recommended by several people. He is very thorough with his patients. My experience with him has been excellent, and I credit him with discovering my prostate cancer which had been misdiagnosed by a urologist. I was successfully treated thanks to Dr. Story. He has a great staff, especially the office manager, Beckah, who goes above and beyond to help. I recommend this practice without reservation.

Absolutely great doctor and staff. Dr. Story really cares about his patients and is easy to work with. He listens to what you have to say and is always helpful. Great personality and one of the best doctors I’ve ever been to. He’s been my doctor for five years and I can’t imagine going to another doctor

Dr. Story is awesome, if you can get past his office staff. Nurse forgets to call you back and schedule an appointment. But Dr. Story is wonderful his office staff is just lacking.
