Dr. Crystal Newby, MD

Dr Newby is awesome! She takes her time with you and helps you understand any issues. She is super knowledgeable about menopause and hormones.

She completely invalidated my concerns and pains. Seemed to be in a hurry. Absolutely will not be going back.

Very rude and disrespectful i can’t forget how she was rude with me when she was the on call doctor in Kansas City objyn clinic and I called asking about pills to make me stop vomiting after my C-section, she has to learn how to respect people!

Doctor Newby was nice but always seemed to be in a hurry and never spoke to us for more than 5 minutes or showed interest about our concerns and questions. During the first appointment I told her that I have arthritis and other conditions and she said that it would not be related to the pregnancy nor would it affect the pregnancy at all.Week 25 I told her that I was in terrible pain and she said that it was normal and part of pregnancy and didn't ask me more about it. It ended up being 2 hernias, I had to go to a different doctor where they explained to me that I am a high risk patient for all of my conditions including the hernias and should be taking medication since the beginning of the pregnancy.

My wife is pregnant with our first child and Dr. Newby came highly recommended. We were excited and nervous when we first met her but ultimately didn’t know what to expect. My wife has fibromyalgia and Sjogren Syndrome and but she completely ignored those concerns and told my wife she was not high risk. Not knowing anything about pregnancy and speaking with someone who should be the expert in it, we quietly move on. Fast forward 5 months and my wife had excruciating pain in her leg. When we talked to Dr. Newby about this, she ignored our concerns and even said we shouldn’t bother going to the ER as they would not accept us. Thankfully, we ignored her advice and we found out that my wife has a hernia. Prompted by her uncaring demeanor we decided to look at other OBs where we found out not only was my wife high risk but because of the Sjogren Syndrome our child was at a massively increased risk for fetal arrhythmia.

She is very knowledgeable and personable.

This was my first appointment with Dr. Newby; my well woman visit. I waited about 40 mins before being taken to the room. And waited 15 mins for Dr. Newby after the nurse got my weight and BP. When she came in she didn’t introduce herself and she didn’t have a laptop to take notes. I thought was odd. She didn’t ask me any personal questions and the exam didn’t feel thorough. She barely did a breast exam and didn’t feel my abdomen. She did trim my IUD strings which was nice. I felt like she listened to me and was very kind. I asked about stress incontinence and she was dismissive of pelvic floor therapy. Said I could do that if I have the time but I could also watch videos online and do kegels. Not an impressive answer. I think she tried to answer questions and concerns I had, but I ultimately felt like it wasn’t a good match. I’m sure she’s a wonderful OB, but I’m done having babies and I’m more concerned about my gynecological health as I age into perimenopause and menopause.

Overall I like Dr Newby. My only complaint, however; is every time I’m in there I feel our visits are super fast, short and rushed. It’s like she can’t wait to get out of the room and that does bother me as a patient.

Dr. Newby is wonderful. She takes the time to listen to concerns and explain your options. She provides medical research and background information to allow you to make an informed decision. I never feel rushed or ignored.

My daughter had a complicated pregnancy. Dr. Newby was patient and took her time to explain every question my daughter had along the way. My daughter needed to be induced a bit early and Dr. Newby was very empathetic and was able to explain the medical reasons for the induction without pressuring her. I'm so very grateful for Dr. Newby!

My first experience with Dr.Newby was bed side care rounds with my first born. (My doc was on vacation) the way she cared for me is why I changed to her for all my OB Care. She remembers who I am. She is the kindest OB I’ve ever had. Really listens to what you want and advocates for you.

Dr newby is an exceptional doctor. She has a welcoming and calm personality. She listens and asks questions. She is thorough but also let's you make decisions regarding action plan. She delivered my daughter and I had the best experience with her. I am thankful my previous ob referred her.

She is excellent- spends time - thinks through things- in compassionate. Highly recommend her!!!
