Over a year after hip replacement - Very Happy
I was able to do a 3 hour piano playing job just 12 days after Dr. DuShey did a total replacement of my right hip. Now, over a year later, I am amazed and grateful that, as pain-free as I was within 4-6 weeks after the operation, I keep feeling better and better all the time. Knock wood, it's almost like I never had the problem! It even made my other hip 90% better. That may be because he can adjust the length of your leg during the procedure, so that it better matches the other leg. Also, people tell me that, in not favoring the (previously) 'bad' hip, I am putting much less strain on the un-operated one. Dr. DuShey predicted this, looking at X-rays (you are always welcome at his office) before the hip replacement, telling me that the 'other' hip still had cartilage and might NEVER be a candidate for replacement. Disclaimer: I'm a 'young' 75, fairly slim, and almost never eat meat. These factors may not play into ones results, but they may.

INSULTED for sharing my symptoms with the Dr?
I was insulted for sharing my symptoms with the Dr. for his professional evaluation he called me "intellectually dishonest." I was shocked and asked for clarification, he told me that he didn't believe that I had pain and numbness (the reason I was referred and communicated ahead of the appointment in writing via email.) To quote the American Association of Medical Colleges, "False ideas about black peoples’ experience of pain can lead to worrisome treatment disparities." Any additional questions I asked were answered gruffly. I suspect he would not treat a man this way.

WORST EXPERIENCE WITH A DOCTOR
Dr. Dushey came in to the appointment WITHOUT A MASK (although they are required in his office) and told me I could take mine off as well. Is he kidding?? He literally spent 10 minutes with me and blew me off when I called twice to ask questions as his instructions were not clear. I had two issues but when I was given a prescription for Physical Therapy only one was listed. I had to wait for them to give me a new prescription but the amount of time that he gave me for the p/t was inadequate. I then called to speak with the COO/Office Manager to find out the answer to my question and to get additional time for p/t, and he too, blew me off. The most unprofessional practice I have EVER had the displeasure of dealing with. There are alot of fine doctors out there who care - he is just not one of them. DO NOT waste your time with him - it's nothing but a money making factory............

Stay Clear of Dr. DuShey
I saw Dr. DuShey for tendinitis in the hip; while he was fine in the exam, he never wrote the physical therapy prescription referral he recommended -- even after multiple calls and email requests. Still billed me of course. If you care about your health, stay clear of Dr. DuShey
