Complications from Vasectomy
Had a vasectomy in February 2025 done by Dr. Courtney Shands. I will say he was friendly and did his best job of putting me at ease during procedure. Three days after procedure I had terrible pain and a hematoma on left side of scrotum. I had to call off work for a few days. I still have swelling (a few times a day) on my left side and it has been 8 weeks. I think more dialogue before vasectomy would have been helpful and I am convinced an Open Ended Vasectomy would have been best for me but he never mentioned that method. Perhaps I am one of the unlucky guys who would have had complications regardless of the surgeon. Do research beforehand guys. This should not be advertised as a quick and painless three day recovery the way it is.

Excellent Physician

Knowledgeable and Concerned
Dr Shands is an excellent urologist. He has both the intellectual skills and the personal skills to provide a professional medical experience. If you want the layman’s understand if your complex medical condition he is your guy. Concerned compassionate and extremely competent. You will not regret having him as your urologist.

Who'd have thought that when you got old enough to have a permanent prostate issue you'd look forward to annual visits to your urologist.
