Dr. Cory Mathias, DO

I had an initial visit scheduled for over 3 mos., my appointment was cancelled today Nov., 4 and his staff said they couldn't reschedule me until Febraury. This is not acceptable to have to wait an additional 3 mos when this cancellation was not in my control.

I've been going to Smethport Family Practice for 6-7 years, but Dr. Mathias has been my doctor for the last 2-3. I am overall in good health so I haven't had to come to him with a lot of serious issues, but his advice and suggestions have always been balanced and show that he is very knowledgeable. Most recently, I had a very peculiar and frustrating pain that affected me for almost a year and he prescribed physical therapy first rather than going straight to pain medication (which I was very thankful for!). When my problem eventually began to subside (after PT and other changes) I explained to Dr. Mathias one thing that really seemed to be causing the pain and he immediately said 'Oh, that's called Maralgia Paraesthetica!' and proceeded to pull up information online about it. I was so happy to finally know what exactly I had been dealing with! I was blown away.Anyway, he's a great doctor and my whole family now visits him. His staff are all very kind and easy to work with as well.

no good not ethical un- caring

Dr. Mathias was extremely compassionate and understanding of a difficult situation. My husband’s wishes for hospice was kindly considered and granted. This will make for a dignified and comfortable end. Thank you, Dr. Mathias, you may never know what it has meant to him.

Dr. Mathias has taken over my medical care, as my PCP retired. Needless to say, I was apprehensive. He put my husband and I immediately at ease. Mr. Mathias is caring, professional and approachable. In minutes I felt comfortable speaking with him. He had all my issues on paper, had spoken at length with my PCP as to my issues. I felt like he already knew me. I will gladly give him 5 stars! He is worth that and more.
