Demand an X-Ray!
Husband went to ER @ 2 am by ambulance after falling getting out of bed. He said he thought he had broken his ankle. He also had low oxygen levels, even though he uses an oxygen concentrator. He had also aspirated the night before. When I got to his ER room, I noticed a huge bruise on his face & neck, as well as a cut on his ear from where he fell. The doc had already been in to see him. When he came in after I arrived, he said he wasn't worried about his ankle after looking at it. He had someone walk with him. Even though he was in pain, the doc decided nothing was wrong with it. He ordered an x-ray of his lungs, but not his ankle. He sent us home within the hour. My husband complained about the pain. We elevated his foot, iced it & used pain meds. When his PT came 5 days later, he took one look at it & called our podiatrist & got an appointment for the next day. It was purple, black & swollen. The x-ray showed a broken ankle. So angry! Now in boot for 8 weeks. Horrible service!

My 93 y.o. dad was bleeding from surgery he had on 3/22 on his head to remove 2 spots. The bleeding wouldn't stop and he was taken to the ER two separate times since then. Today he was seen by Dr. Carpenter. He was short and impatient and extremely rude. No other doctor, nurse, or aide at that ER has ever been as disrespectful as Dr. Carpenter. We hope he isn't on duty for our dad's next visit. Someone needs to tell him to work on his manner. Especially with the elderly.
