Poor care and lack of knowledge
Dr. Hatfield needs to find a different profession. You can tell he is just burned out. He only looks at blood work to make his decisions. Even when bloodwork is off or bad he blames it on the patients weight or stress. He should not be treating patients. Dont waste your time or money seeing this doctor.

No empathy
He acknowledged the fact I had seen a different rheumatologist - asked about what happened - then followed with “What are you hoping to accomplish today?” He was very dismissive - ultimately implying all of my issues were stress related. I sobbed, and he was unphased by my emotion. It was apparent he felt as if I was seeking pain medication- which I don’t take and I don’t want to. I want a diagnosis and a treatment plan so I can regain function and live a relatively normal life.

WORST bedside manner
I've seen my fair share of doctors, nurse practitioners, and specialists over the years, and this man is BY FAR the WORST experience I have ever had. He treated me as if I was a pill-seeker, even when I explicitly said I was trying to avoid medication, if possible. He had a very 'what do you want ME to do about it' approach. He even told me he didn't understand why rheumatologists had to 'deal' with fibromyalgia patients when it's not a rheumatic disease. I left the appointment confused, defeated, and in tears. NO ONE should ever be made to feel the way this doctor made me feel. Absolutely no compassion, empathy, or desire to help someone with chronic pain issues. He just seems to want elderly arthritis patients he can throw an NSAID at and call it a day.

Attentive
My experience with Dr. Hatfield has been good. I don't understand the negative reviews - unless maybe he has used them to improve his approach. I guess he does ask questions regarding what you're seeking - but that can help him know how to treat you. Are you looking for a wait and see approach? Are you ready to try medication? Are you looking for prosthetics, physical therapy, etc? I think letting a doctor know what you're looking for can help in their approach. I think it's good that he asks what a patient's expectations are bc managing expectations is important. I guess some people mistake that for an attitude...? I haven't seen him this year yet, but I do plan on going to him again.

Awkward and disappointing
Read the reviews. This was such an awkward appointment. I had to show up 30 minutes early and still had to wait for 40 minutes before going back. Then waited an additional 20 minutes. He was very dry and asked what I was looking to accomplish, which threw me. Overall, it was not a very pleasant interaction, he didn’t have much of anything helpful or reassuring to say, and the appointment might have lasted 10 minutes, as a new patient, after all that. Super disappointed.

Terrible experience. Waited over an hour in the examining room. This was my first appointment, so when he came in he acted like he was pissed off that I was there. He said” I see Dr. “so and so” has been treating you so what do you want ME to do for you? It was downhill from there. Every question I asked was like a opportunity for him to try and make me look small and stupid. For instance I asked if my condition would keep getting worse or would it stabilize. He gave me a lecture about how he was a Christian and that even HE couldn’t predict what the outcome was. He gives Christians and doctors a bad name.

Dr Hatfield treated me for a year for an autoimmune disease. He explained clearly about what was wrong, the treatment plan and followed through with me every step of the way. I had a few issues and had to call his office. His staff consulted with Dr. Hatfield and got back to me right away. He was very active in my care. I would highly recommend him.

Worst Doctor, I actually wouldn’t give him the title of Doctor. Disgrace to medicine and rheumatology.
