Dr. Carracher gave me my quality of life back!
He spent 45 minutes with me on my initial appointment. I was suffering from severe exhaustion and weight gain. My usual high energy self was gone. My former PCP/internist thought a slightly elevated thyroid test was the problem and wanted to put me on thyroid medication. I felt that wasn't the issue and knew I needed to see a specialist. Dr. Carracher properly diagnosed me with sleep deprivation and referred me to a sleep specialist. I was diagnosed with sleep apnea and high stress as the causes of my lack of sleep and weight gain. With proper sleep and better stress management, I have my energy back, my quality of life back and am losing the weight I gained. Dr. Carracher really listens, digs deep to find the real cause of health issues and really cares about his patients.

Dr. Carracher was very thorough when I saw him the first time, but my follow up wasn't for six months because his schedule was so full. I called multiple times to get the results of all my blood work and it wasn't until 3 weeks later I spoke to someone. Went to my follow up today and was told they no longer see Endo patients there . She called the other location (which was only ten minutes away) and was told my appointment was being canceled and needed to be rescheduled. I drove over an hour to get to this appointment and I had waited SIX MONTHS - because apparently that was the earliest he had - and they were canceling and rescheduling? I informed the lady at the desk there would be no reschedule-I would find a new doctor! Five minutes up the road I received a call and voice mail from Dr. Carracher's PA apologizing profusely for the "mix up" and said they would "work me in today." Needless to say, I never returned the call and I will never use it refer another UC doctor or facility.

Pays no genuine attention to thyroid patient. Thinks he knows patient as well as condition. Which I find interesting since, apart from doing a TSH blood test, checks for little else.

Finding an endocrinologist doctor in this city is difficult enough and scheduling an appointment with one is a let down. 3-4 months wait time, so expect to wait a long time before you get an appointment. The staff there is amazing though, and keeps the appointments moving, as best as possible. The staff was very professional and friendly. Luckily I came in 30 minutes early, as I was a new patient and had to fill out 30 minutes of paper work. The appointment it self was less then 15 minutes.

I was in the waiting room around 30 minutes for my first appointment, which I was fine with. However, I was 10 minutes late to his office for my second appointment. There were 6 patients in front of me waiting to check in with the receptionists. It was 25 minutes past my appointment time when the receptionist took my name. They were clearly overbooked. I was told that I could either wait all day for a possible opening or reschedule. It took 2 months to get in to my first appointment.

Dr. Carracher is very knowledgeable and takes the time to explain whatever you are talking about. He is very supportive, takes his time, and follows up and has a great bedside manner, along with his expertise. I am very pleased that he is my endocrinologist.
