Highly recommend Dr. Bird
Dr. Bird made it very easy for me to relax with his friendly, personable, and knowledgeable approach. He treated me with great respect and explained all my choices, allowing me the power to choose what the best approach would be for me. I have never had such a positive experience with a doctor and staff. They were thorough and effective.

Excellent compassionate physician
Dr. Bird treated both my husband and myself and we couldn’t ask for a kinder more compassionate physician. He puts you at ease right away and is very humble, gentle, and easy to talk to. He explains everything very well and is an excellent physician. We highly recommend him.

We hold Dr Bird in highest regard after he operated on our daughter. He was a true professional yet had the skill to converse and reassure a young patient and get her thru a very exacting procedure. We are forever grateful for his expertise and her excellent outcome.

Best surgeon ever! Bedside manners are impeccable. Considerate, compassionate, and humble...all the qualities I require in a outstanding surgeon. I had a colon surgery in June 2014...another surgeon almost cost me my life. Dr. Bird took my case and only because of God and Dr. Bird's expertise....my life was changed. I now live in GA and I would drive 4 hours if I have any colon problems because he is that good...I would never trust anyone other than Dr. Bird to ever do colon surgery on me! Again, the very best!

Colin Bird definitely needs to learn some bedside manner. "Maybe" he's a good surgeon, but he's really poor at interpersonal skills. He seems egotistic and inflexible. Has zero compassion. I don't recommend him.

Doctor Bird; is a professional; proficient, articulate, and he listens, he makes sure that you understand every procedure. After I saw three other doctors, he was the only one who made the correct diagnoses, and then made the corrective surgery. Thanks Dr. Bird. rh

Dr. Bird was superb. I came in for a colonoscopy by Dr. Perez of Asheville Gastro who is also superb, and they found colon cancer. Because of the impending Covid-19 patient load, Dr. Bird agreed to do the surgery the next day so I could get in and out before the influx of patients. I don't usually make snap decisions but he explained the situation and options do clearly that I moved ahead with the surgery. The surgery went great. Dr. Bird explained everything clearly and understandably, never was too busy or in a rush, and we just had a comfort level of trust. Two weeks later I am healed nicely, able to do most everything except heavy lifting and I continue to make improvements every day. I would highly recommend Dr. Bird as well as his excellent staff. I could not have been treated better, more professionally and I believe that a lot if my healing has been due to the comfort level I have experienced with their entire team. Thank you Dr. Bird and staff.

Dr. Bird and another surgeon in the same practice performed simultaneous surgeries on me after being admitted. Both surgeons were fantastic from my arrival by ambulance to waiting until both surgeons could be available at the same time to the surgery and follow up both in the hospital and after release. His skill as a surgeon is very apparent and his bedside manner is super. He is able to explain things clearly and shows great concern for his patients.

This guy and/or his office should be sued. I called their office in excruciating pain, telling them that I was currently bleeding and needed to be seen soon. Not necessarily immediately, but soon. They told me I had to wait for the “new patient coordinator” to call me, even though they’d scheduled an appointment for me before. I explained this to them, and they told me that because the appointment was a while ago I had been reassigned as a “new patient.” I said fine, call me a new patient, I don’t care, but let’s just get something scheduled. The woman refused, saying that I would have to wait for the new patient coordinator to reach out. Only that person can schedule appointments for new patients. Unfortunately, the new patient coordinator never answers the phone, never responds to her voicemails, and apparently doesn’t actually do her job. Which means this office has basically refused to schedule my appointment, knowing that I’m suffering. These people are literally evil. Stay away.

I am 9 days post surgery and have only seen Dr. Bird once since surgery and that was in the hospital right after still under the influence of anesthesia. I have had some problems including an incision infection and still can not get in to see him personally. I have had a major problem with his office not returning calls. His PA is "cold" and critical. Left several detailed messages with concerns which are still unacknowledged. I feel I would get better care from my GP which is what I plan ASAP.

No surgeons in haywood county will perform surgery on me due to the severity of my condition so I was referred to Dr Bird and he has preformed several surgeries on me since then. He has helped me immensely. He is a great surgeon and truly cares about his patients. I am extremely thankful to have found him.
