My husband has been coming to this office for a couple of months now and we couldn't be happier with the care and consideration Dr. Shanklin grants to his patients. My husband had been to other doctors over the last year with chest and muscle pains--not a single one of them even thought to look at vitamin levels. They just kept trying to prescribe pain meds or steroids that my husband hates and they wouldn't listen when he said the meds didn't work for him. Turns out the underlying issue was just an extreme Vitamin D deficiency. On my husband's FIRST visit, Dr. Shanklin thought Vitamin D might be the root cause and ran bloodwork. Now my husband is on the right supplements, no pain meds, and has never felt better. Thank you, Dr. Shanklin, for *listening*! You've made a world of difference.

I went in for my annual checkup where the doctor asked me some questions about my current health and I answered honestly. The doctor was very nice and recommended a couple things for me to try out and prescribed me more medicine. A month later I get multiple calls and letters saying I have a remaining balance that I need to pay. I called Primary Care to inquire and they explained I was billed for 2 visits on the same day- 1 for my annual and 1 for a generic visit ($120 out of pocket total). I talked with Primary Care and explained I had been a patient of theirs for years and always discussed my health with the doctors on my visits and they do make recommendations and prescriptions for me to try yearly but I had never been billed for 2 visits. The woman basically said sorry but we are in fact going to charge you for both this time and moving forward. I would not recommend Primary Care.

I love my Dr Shanklin I just absolutely do not like that when I have an appointment with him sometime I get a different physician. I was very disappointed with my last appointment. The Dr was very sweet but she hurt me a lot and I have ugly scars from it. My legs even twitch and cramp a lot.

Dr. Shanklin has been my Primary Care Physician for 6 years now. He treats the whole individual; he doesn’t just refer you to other specialties. I’ve been impressed because he is knowledgeable about the latest research and newest treatments available for various conditions. My office visits have never felt rushed. His staff and nurses have always been patient and kind. I highly recommend Dr. Shanklin!

I had a sports related injury that was causing neck pain that radiated down my arm. I was prescribed 100 mg Gabapentin once a day. I was not given any additional information about the drug. It did not work. I healed on my own in a couple of weeks. I re injured the same spot, only this time the pain was much worse. I could not sleep for 2 weeks and started feeling numbness in my fingers. I went back, and he sent me for an X-ray, and gave me the same drug at a higher dose, but still no explanation. I went back for a follow up visit. I complained about the experience to the nurse practitioner. About a week later I received a letter in the mail saying that, as of that date they were terminating our doctor patient relationship. They gave no explanation as to why. I called twice from my cell to ask them why and it seemed as though my number had been blocked. So, I called from my wife's phone and sure enough I got through and they told me they would not give me an explaination.

Doctor Shanklin is excellent, a great and well qualified doctor. However, nurses are total slapdicks. Your prescriptions are not a priority to them whatsoever. It took them two weeks to send a prescription to my pharmacy at one point. Shanklin is 5 stars, his nurses however, are absolutely not.
