Compassionate, thorough
Dr. Lartigue is one of a few psychiatrists who can do both—be able to define, where applicable, the biologic basis of symptoms as well as the psychological basis. The many therapists of all educational levels that I’ve known haven’t been able to describe or treat both aspects of the mind. He managed my acute and chronic symptoms of major depression with anti-depressants and an anti anxiety medication. Then he turned to helping me understand the psychological basis of my symptoms. We explored why I do the sometimes self-destructive things I do and what my triggers for depression might be. His manner: He’s a serious guy—he’ll take you and your symptoms seriously—what’s wrong with that? He is capable of prescribing the best medicine, if needed, for you but he can also do different types of psychotherapy according to your issues. I was in both depth psychotherapy and episodic marital therapy with him. He’s excellent.

Avoid at all costs!
Dr. Lartigue worked for the state of Louisiana, as a psychiatrist, up until a couple of years ago. Need a prior authorization for insurance? That’ll cost you $3 PER Minute! He’s only worried about money — don’t let him know that even a distant cousin is extremely wealthy. To him, this equates to one needing longer sessions or other nonsense. The vast majority of doctors & healthcare professionals on the North Shore, even in NOLA, don’t speak good about him. He incorrectly diagnoses patients as Bi-Polar, when that’s just an easy excuse from working — he could diagnose prisoners with whatever he wanted to & I feel for those incorrectly diagnosed as Bi-Polar. Not only is it convenient to dx (diagnose) most people as Bi-Polar, it’s also very rewarding for the M.D. writing prescriptions for the “latest & greatest” medication. Pharma companies can see who’s prescribing what, the mg, frequency, # of patients on a med. They can outright bribe MD’s with cash, so they get creative.

Dr. Lartigue is a brilliant medical mind. When you are talking about symptoms with him and answering his questions, you can see the gears turning while he is figuring out the puzzle that is your brain. However, he is a very serious person. In the years I've gone to him, I've only seen him smile twice. when you go to see him, expect to feel like he does not care or that he is cold. He can come off as kind of a jerk. But the man knows his stuff and will do everything he can to improve your life.

Horrible bed side manners, no compassion, doesn't listen, and thinks when a neurologist at an ER thinks and prescribes a drug I need to be on to help control my epilepsy that they are stupid and don't know what they are talking about.

I highly recommend Dr. Lartigue as I found myself with complex problems which other psychiatrics only kept giving me Meds which ended up causing major problems for me. Dr. Lartigue was quickly able to identify & change my Meds. He's by far the most knowledgeable psychiatrist I've ever seen & I've seen my fair share. Hi

Dr. Lartigue spent very little time with me during my visits. His response to problems is to write more prescriptions rather than discussing underlying causes. I did not feel a personal connection with him at all and wish I had just gone to a family doctor for medicine.
