Please do not go to this man with any serious injury. The Cleveland Clinic even after an MRI missed broken bones, torn cartilage, torn tendons, and damage to my joint. He sent me to PT and told me it would be fine. I went back after him telling me, “I just needed time”. I explained to him how my ankle was declining daily and asked what could be the next steps because I wasn’t getting better. I lived in constant pain for 7 months at that point. He said I needed a second MRI and insurance already paid for one, so he doubted I could get another. I asked him what was I suppose to do then? He said, “I have 28 patients today, so I don’t have time to talk to you.” I finally got a second opinion months later, after examining my foot that doctor said there wasn’t even a need for another MRI, I needed surgery. It’s been almost 2y since my initial injury and I still think how different my life would be if I had not walked into this man’s office. I regret not making a complaint against him.

Bunion, hammer/claw/bent toes/ pain when walking
Dr Herbert had made me insoles a decade ago. I was having foot problems and had several drs tell me they couldn't do anything. Dr Herbert fixed my bunion, shortened 3 metatarsal bones and fused my hammer toes. Im almost 5 months post op, still walking with a cane but doing much better. I have a beautiful foot now and can walk pretty much pain free, (still healing), and mostly from stiff legs due to so much time in bed and lack of use. I fought tooth and nail for PA, he was right, (again), I didn't need it. Im glad he held his ground on that. Some miscommunication with his PT to Dr Herbert at pre op appointment that would have made things easier for me. All in all, i give him 5 stars. Knowledgeable, highly skilled Compassionate ,personable surgeon. You might have to schedule out a bit to get your first appointment, but after that its a breeze. Reasonable wait times. Excellent specialists are in demand, a full schedule is a good thing. I will be having my right foot done too.

Unresponsive and uncaring
Lack of care and responsiveness led to a 6+ week delay in treatment resulting in lost time, emotional distress, limited knowledge and a necessary change in physician and hospital systems to get the appropriate treatment.

I had been suffering from plantar fasciitis & a bone spur on the same foot for over eight years. I've tried traditional treatments. SURGERY was my last resort. I had the surgery August 2021. I wish I had done it years ago. Dr. Herbert & his team did an exceptional job. They took great care of me during the entire process. I had absolutely NO PAIN right after surgery & no pain during the healing process. The surgical site is completely healed & there's no scar! You can't even tell I had surgery. I NO LONGER SUFFER FROM PAIN!! I highly recommend Dr. Christopher Herbert with the Cleveland Clinic.

I had multiple issues with my left foot that stemmed from a previous surgeon. Dr Herbert ordered an MRI instead of making a knee jerk diagnosis. Although it wasn't conclusive as to the main issue, the MRI did find 2 neuroma's. The neuromas were removed, a dissolvable pin was inserted and 3 screws were placed. Not sure why a second dissolvable was not placed but Dr Herberts reasoning sufficed. He made it clear that he had a plan but that he may have to make "game time" decisions during surgery. He is very up front and thorough. One more surgery coming up that will hopefully close this chapter for good.

Dr Herbert did not explain anything about the condition he diagnosed by x rays. He gave me no follow up instructions and did not have me schedule another visit ( which I wouldn’t have anyways). He spent part of my visit whining about how many patients he is expected to see a day. The man has a clear case of burn out and it definitely is affecting his job. I drove 3 hours to see an MD employees by The Cleveland Clinic and Instead of getting excellent care I got charged $1700 for subpar service. This was a waste of my time.

He solved my plantar problem and made orthotic inserts that held up for years as I went from fat to runner. Much better than isnerts that I got from other doctor who had me stand in a foam box to make model for inserts. The inserts I got from there cost more and lasted less than a year. Dr. Herbert puts your foot in proper position and applies plaster -old school but accurate. Good sense of humor, answers questions well.

My granddaughter sees him she is 10, she had surgery over the summer he called to see if she was doing good that evening. He is very caring of his patients and he knows what he is doing, we had an issue with a cast and we got in that day. Staff is also wonderful kind and caring. I would recommend him to anyone. Any concerns we have he's talks to us and explains everything. He sits and talks to you not at you. He is a very compassionate Dr.
