Zero stars for contempt, not listening, bad advice
DiGiovanni takes poor listening and arrogance to such an extreme that it interferes with accurate diagnosis and medical advice. 1. I live with severe constant pain that interferences with my career. He stated that symptoms would continue at the same level for 'decades' which he considered an “excellent prognosis.” His logic: if he can’t fix it, it’s not a real problem.2. His medical knowledge of chronic pain is 30 years out of date. When I said I take duloxetine, an FDA approved medication commonly used first line for chronic pain, he said “what’s that?” He told me that I had no more treatment options and that I would have to live in pain for the rest of my life, which is a pretty extreme statement coming from someone who hasn’t bothered to keep up with first line treatments in 2024. 3. When I told him my goal is to run, he responded with contempt, “Why would you even want that?!” A better physician would discuss risks&benefits instead of dismissing my health goals as not important.

Outstanding
I had a total ankle replacement 13 weeks ago and I couldn't be happier with Dr. DiGiovanni, MGH and the procedure itself. Covid delayed me but it was well worth the wait. i am walking and biking mostly pain free which gets better every day. I highly recommend Dr. D!

Dr. Di Giovanni delivers surgical brilliance wrapped in human warmth. He always enters the room with a smile knowing who I am, what he as done (or will do), patiently explains every procedure and answers all questions with extraordinary clarity. Because this physician is so well prepared, he was extremely efficient without ever making me feeling rushed. If the current post-operative painless functionality of my previously malformed foot and ankle is a measure of Dr. Giovanni's skills, I can only use the word "perfect." Five stars in my review are too few.

Dr. Digiovanni and his entire staff are Best in Class. It may take you a little while to get an appointment, but it's worth the wait. He was very honest when discussing my options for foot surgery and took the time to explain the what and why - also reasons for why something was not needed. I felt I could ask questions about the treatment, procedure and what to expect in the future. I STRONGLY recommend Dr. Digiovanni and his staff to those looking for foot and ankle relief.

Dr. DiGiovanni is the most fantastic doctor I have ever met. I wish I had found him earlier but he has done an ankle replacement and two other surgeries for me. He is sincere and honest. He lays out all the options and explains the benefits and possible drawbacks of each. He lets the patient make the ultimate decision on what he has to offer. I can't say enough good things about this doctor and I would recommend him to anyone who needs to find a foot/ankle specialist. He is very patient and answers all questions that I ask in an easy to understand manner and he has never hurried me. I trust my life with this doctor. Thank you Dr. D!!

Dr. Christopher Digiovanni gave me my life back by skillfully performing Triple Arthrodesis on my left ankle including a tendon abridgement. I was unable to enjoy walking, golfing, skiing, and performing normal daily activities without extreme pain for more than 5 years and it became progressively more painful. It has been only 6 months since my surgery and I am enjoying my summer to it's fullest extent. I'm playing my best golf 5 days a week, riding a bike, performing heavy household and backyard work. My ankle feels strong and I'm optimistic that a great ski season is in my future. For those of you who are retired and wondering if age is an obstacle, I'm 72 years old. Larry - Rhode Island

I am very grateful to Dr. DiGiovanni for he and his medical and administrative team, for providing me with exceptional medical care. I now refer to him as my "miracle worker."I had come in for a discussion of ankle replacement but Dr. D, quickly realized that I needed foot surgery first to alleviate the pain and provide better stability for the ankle. He was exceptionally caring and competent and has a talent for communicating complicated medical issues and procedures into understandable components so I could make the best decisions possible. He was always patient, understanding but also frank about surgery and rehab issues. He also has a delightful bedside manner, charming and disarming, with a caring, respectful and reassuring manner. My rehab was difficult but Dr. D and his team was there to guide me and assist with any questions. His surgical administrator Tricia was also awesome to work with, so patient and caring! I definitely returning for my ankle replacement next spring.

My experience having foot surgery by Dr. D. was extremely positive. The team, made up of the scheduler, P.A., nurses, and himself, a gifted surgeon, offered a complete and comprehensive service. Even though I was told my foot was a challenging case, my experience was smooth and seamless. You can be certain the team is there for you and trustworthy. I followed their instructions carefully and 6 months out I feel great. I feel lucky to have had the best.

Absolutely outstanding! I needed an ankle replacement, and spent a fair amount of time looking for an experienced surgeon. Lucky for me, Dr.DiGiovanni was highly recommended and he was the third surgeon I visited. I had a total ankle replacement in early October 2018 at Mass. General. I am an avid golfer, work part time, enjoy gardening, hiking and visit my local YMCA for water aerobics. Prior to my surgery, golfing was very painful and I had to take a cart, gardening was also painful, hiking was out of the question. I had ankle pain every day. Six months after surgery I was well on my way to enjoying golf (now walking), hiking and gardening......all without pain. It has been over a year since my surgery and I have my active lifestyle back and couldn't be happier. Thank you Dr. DiGiovanni and your staff.

Dr. DiGiovanni is a brilliant surgeon with a most amazing bedside manner. He lacks the standard arrogance most specialists possess and instead greets and treats you as a friend, an equal a person who is capable of contributing to their own health and well being. He and his superb office and surgical teams will take the best care you have ever experienced. His support teams allow him to focus on patient care while minor details are managed by competent staff. Dr. DiGiovanni will listen to your concerns, issues and ongoing medical needs then design a plan you both are comfortable with, and that is the difference. I sought him out due to an extremely rare condition which developed in my foot. He did not shy away from helping me, but rather did his due diligence and completed a successful reconstructive surgery. He is an amazing surgeon and doctor who I would highly recommend. He will spend however much time is needed with you to resolve your issue and address your concerns.

Highly recommend Dr. DiGiovanni and his teams in Waltham and MGH. He completed foot/ankle surgery after suffering from years of bad sprains, fractures and pain. After 8 months I was back up and running with no pain at all and will soon be back to completing a marathon. His level of care, background knowledge and information pre and post op was very reassuring. The team during the surgical procedure was comforting (especially for a first timer), knowledgeable and attentive. Office is efficient!

Dr. Digiovanni performed my ankle fusion procedure 15 months ago. I had a 37 year old ankle injury, and end-stage osteoarthritis. I am absolutely THRILLED with the results, and it was worth the 10-12 week recovery period to be pain free! I am hiking, walking long distances, practicing yoga, showshoeing, downhill skiing and rode my bike over 2000 miles in 2018. Dr. DiGi, his medical and admin staff were all fantastic and coached me through what I could do to maximize my outcome. GRATEFUL!

I wish I found Dr. DiGiovanni sooner. I went to him for a second opinion and in April '17 when I met him I had gone through 9 surgeries, internal fixation and where ever metal was touching my bones, the bone had died and infection had set in. What I find so impressive about Dr. DiGiovanni (and his team) is that they are genuinely caring and a true partner. He is honest, willing to work with you, doesn't give up (even when you're ready to) and ego is never something that comes into the picture.

A fellow examined me and skimmed the summary I gave him. Then Dr. Digiovanni came rushing in the room looking like he didnt want to waste his time with me. I tried to explain the issues but he wasnt interested in listening. I dislike being examined by fellows and that the overseeing expert doctor then fails to give you an exam. Dr. Digiovanni was very condescending and a poor listener. The best doctors have BOTH technical expertise and work with patients as a team.

I chose Dr DiGiovanni for my ankle issues. From the initial appointment to the after surgery followup, I found him to be a caring, friendly, knowledgeable and excellent surgeon. He explained my options, agreed with my choice as best for my situation, and followed up with me prior to and after surgeries. I thought enough of him that when I experienced a different problem I returned to him for the fix Having faith in the person and also his support staff is very important.

ANKLE Surgery June 26th in Waltham, out patient. If I could give more stars I would. Check in was easy and on time. The nursing staff both pre and post op was amazing. There must have been six or more attending nurses. The anesthesiologist was funny, caring and could not have done a better job. Dr. Digiovanni runs a great department and I have complete faith in his care. Nose to toe for next two weeks as my broken ankle mends. He placed two titanium plates on either side of my ankle.

Dr. DiGiovanni performed Arthrodesis surgery on my foot about a year ago and the results so far have been outstanding. The Dr. was very professional, took as much time as I needed to explain the condition I had and all possible alternatives. He painted a very clear picture of the procedure and recovery and to date it has been very accurate. I could not have been happier with the diagnosis he gave, the recommendation, and the results so far. The Dr. is extremely professional and caring.

Dr Christopher W. DiGiovanni MD chief at the Mass General foot & ankle hospital and his great team of professionals are the best. I am being treated for Charcot foot a form of diabetic arthritis in my ankle and there is no where else I would rather be for my treatment. He is known for his ankle and foot expertise as the best from his past patients and other doctors all over the country. He was pleasant and professional. Very nice to see a man (great doctor) spend time with me and not holding on
