DO NOT SEE THIS DOCTOR
If you want a doctor to partner with you in improving your health, DO NOT SEE DR. CANTRILL. He dislikes questions, opinions, or explanations. He's rigid and set in his ways.I wonder how well he keeps up with new treatments. He grossly mismanaged my testosterone therapy. I went from a low T count to to one well above the normal range. As a result, my body reacted with big, red, ugly pustules, which are a bad side effect of a very high T level. When I asked him to reduce the dosage several times, he refused. So, I saw my PCP for medications to treat the pustules. She decided to test my T level. The result was a T level of 1055, well above the normal range. On Friday, 8.02.24, I left a message with a medical assistant to tell him my PCP sent him the lab results and to ask him again to reduce the dosage. On Monday, 8.05.24, I got a call from a medical assistant, TIFFANY. She was loud, rude and condescending. She basically said hell no. I am luckily seeing a different urologist.

Rezum surgery 8 weeks ago. He didn't spend any time talking to me after and all the followup is with the PA until your three month visit. I have had more problems than usual with frequency going every hour or two at 8 weeks, and pain that makes sitting or driving uncomfortable. All my phone calls are handled by the medical assistant, who either gives advice or makes you an appointment. I have seen the PA twice and another MD once in the past two months. Dr Cantrill is aware at of my visit today. The PA consulted with him, but he didn't have time to see me, even though he was down the hall. My rough post-op course may not be his fault, but I definitely don't think he cares at all. The procedure was rushed and the post-op instructions were inadequate.

Mangled and Maimed
In interactions with Dr. Cantrill, he was obviously an egocentric narcissist, but I wasn't planning to go out for beers. The first Rezum was initially very helpful, but benefits decreased over time. The second Rezum procedure caused permanent damage. The good doctor seemed amused and made jokes. The proposed remedy was so invasive, e.g., inability to work for three months, that it seemed intended to obliterate any evidence of his mistakes rather than provide me any comfort or relief. I passed and found another provider to clean up the damage as much as possible, but the injury is permanent. Sadly, Texas Tort Reform allows him and his colleagues to do whatever they want with impunity. Just one guy's opinion, but run. Quickly.

100% trust
I'm a healthy, active 63yr old male. I had severe urinary retention due to enlarged prostate. After going thru 2 other urologists, Dr. Cantrill was the only one who gave me immediate relief. He showed me how to self-catheter for a temporary solution for voiding my bladder. This allowed me to finally get 4-6hrs sleep at a time instead of getting up every 1-2hrs. He gave me options. After getting another MRI to verify no cancer was present, he suggested a TURP procedure. I had that done. In and out same day. Excellent treatment by the whole staff. The second day, they removed my catheter and now I'm urinating like I'm 20yrs old. Other urologists were more interested in the next large procedure they could perform on me instead of solving my problem. Thank you, Dr. Cantrill.

Dr Cantrill is a urologist I trust. He listens to your concerns and give you best practice advice. At 72, I've seen several urologists and unlike the rest I've seen, Dr Cantrill is personable, pleasant and easy to work with.

My experience with Dr. Cantrill has been great. He is a very caring physician and will place your best interest first and foremost. I had a Rezum procedure in Aug. 2016. Although I required an indwelling catheter after a few days because of severe inflammation, I was able to urinate fairly normal after 2 weeks. As with any prostate procedure, it takes time to get the desired results, so you must be patient. I now only get up once during the night to urinate. I highly recommend him as a Urologist

The Rezum prostate procedure was absolutly the worst medical experinece I have ever had. Misled as to the severity and length of pain and misery of recovery. Zero campassion of the agony I was going through. The best I could get was "hang in there Buddy, it will get better".

Dr Cantrill's staff & admin is what gives him a poor rating. I understand if the doctor is busy, so I at least await patiently on an estimated date of response for non urgent questions. But if your answers go unanswered for about over a wk & u get stuck getting the runaround and all your staff can say is I dont know, it reflects poorly on how youll most likely do patient care. I recommend you go elswhere if your urology issues. Going through this unorganized mess isnt worth it.

I have been followed by Dr Cantrill for 6 months, and have had 3 visits with him during that time. He is an excellent, knowledgeable physician with a caring 'bedside manner'. His staff have always been pleasant, helpful and responsive to my requests. I highly recommend him.
