After waiting for 5 hours at the Moline ED once test results were completed ,the nurse came in said tests were normal and said the Dr said to discharge. I did not accept the fact that the Dr was not planning on coming in to go over the test results and just going to send her home without seeing her. The nurse was very impersonal and I feel very disrespectful about not keeping patients informed about long wait times. It’s like they stick you in a room and forget you. Will avoid this facility in the future.

My brother presented to ER in middle of night, not feeling well following surgery, pain in a leg, and having had something like a fainting spell. Although they ran EKG, they didnt do a D-dimer or CT scan. Instead, ruled him out for a heart attack and scheduled him for an ultrasound across town. The pain in leg & recent surgery should have indicated a possible clot & these low level interventions. He WASN'T seeking narcotics. He almost didnt go cause this dr downplayed the seriousness! IF they had done job...they would have found multiple clots, and started him on a Heparin protocol 5 mins from home.Instead, across town they luckily went on to find 2 dvts and multiple clots in the lungs. He had to wait over 9 hrs in the ER while attempting to get a room...and then our family couldn't stay with him because so tired from this outrageous process far from home.Have contacted Unity Health - Bettendorf to begin a review process of this Doctor of Oesteopathy, CHRISTINA S. MORTON, DO.

Dr. Shimak is an intelligent, empathetic, and incredible physician. She instantly made me feel comfortable and safe in her care as soon as she walked into my room. She’s makes it obvious that she is an active listener and actually cares and empathizes with you. Her treatment plan involves not only her ideas and recommendations, but she treats you like part of the team. The healthcare field is so lucky to have Dr. Shimak in it, as well as are other patients who may be experiencing one of the most difficult days of their lives. This doctor will make you feel so well cared for amidst any worrisome or anxious feelings you might be experiencing. She is wonderful!
